Customer Review Summary

Fish and chips draw the most praise, with reviewers describing great chip portions and lovely fish, while the chicken curry with rice is called excellent by two. Kebabs, southern fried chicken and burgers are also on the menu, and the staff are repeatedly described as friendly, polite and hard working. Quality is uneven, though. Complaints describe stale fish with small, hard chips, chips that were raw and thrown away, onion rings with soggy batter, southern fried chicken barely coated and mostly bone, and a battered burger with no taste that was swimming in grease. A couple of reviewers say prices have gone up, and one found a lunch for two cost far more than an old menu suggested. One reviewer reports repeated stomach upset after eating a burger and suspects how the meat is handled. Others had no such trouble. One phoned the day before to pre-order for visiting family and found the order correct, hot and tasty.

“It already happened the 3rd or 4th time, but the first times i ignored and was lazy to write a review. This time it costed me half the shift because i was forced to leave work. So what happened? Today before going work i ordered a burger. After i started work, after not even one hour i felt a bit of stomach pain and i had to do the nr 2 (the one that is not normal and starts with letter d, to put it in a nice way). After another hour i had to go again. After another hour and a bit had to go again. So i decided that is not okay because i also work in a "food grade" place so i had to ask from my manager for unpayed authorised leave. What caused this issue? My suspicion is bad handling of the meat. What i mean with that? I mean when the meat is moved often from fridge/freezer to room temperature and back and that alters the quality of the meat. I did a few times in the past at home also when i took meat out of the freezer, kept it in the fridge then after i changed my mind and put it back in the freezer and then again fridge. Why i think is the mishandling of the meat? Because it happened with other products they sell also: one time with their chicken kebab and one time with their doner. The other 2 times (including this one) was with the burger. Also i worked in the past in chip shops and i kinda know how employees handle meat. I will not visit this shop ever again.”

“Used to be quite good and reasonably priced - not any longer. The other day we bought lunch for 2 which we thought was going to cost £11.80 (obviously we had an old menu) it cost £20.10. The Southern fried Chicken was barely coated, the Chicken (what there was of it) was wet and twice as much bone than meat. Onion rings were as though they'd been boiled in water, batter completely soggy. They USED TO BE so good & crispy. Chips were ok & Curry sauce ok. The rest went in brown food bin. Never again. An expensive mistake.”
