About The Lodge Cafe

The Lodge Cafe occupies a lodge building within Bowling Park in Bradford, with outdoor seating that looks out over the park. Cakes are made on the premises, and hot chocolate is a regular order alongside the wider menu. Orders are taken at the table, and food can also be packed as takeaway for those heading back out into the park. The step-free, wheelchair-accessible entrance suits visitors with mobility needs, and high chairs make it workable for families with young children, who can also find books and games to occupy kids while food is prepared. Dogs are welcome throughout. The cafe runs on a walk-in basis, open Wednesday to Sunday during the day and closed Mondays and Tuesdays. Seating can fill up at lunchtime or on sunny days, so arriving outside the busiest stretches may mean a shorter wait for a table.

Customer Review Summary

Cooked breakfasts are what reviewers raise most, from the veggie breakfast and loaded hash browns to a breakfast wrap, with one diner finding it cooked exactly how they like it. Close behind are the drinks: the hot chocolate, peach iced teas, iced latte and coffee, which one reviewer calls the best they have had. Cakes made on the premises and a brownie also get mentioned, and shakshuka and Turkish eggs are praised, though another reviewer notes the Turkish eggs no longer appear on the menu. Staff are described as friendly and welcoming, and the cosy interior with twinkly lights and plants, plus outdoor seating with a view of the park, comes up often. The one recurring snag is that it gets busy, with no tables inside at one visit and a packed terrace on sunny days or around lunchtime. Families mention books and games for children, and one reviewer was allowed to put up missing posters for a lost cat.

“The lodge is in my local park and it is such a beautiful little spot. The food is delicious and they were happy to put it in a take out box. Although not a coffee drinker, I can highly recommend their peach iced teas! The staff are accommodating to all who go there, despite it not being a regular place I visit they were happy to let me put missing posters up for my cat. In turn, I became a customer because of the kindness they showed me.”

“Delightful cafe ( both inside and out!) with a very cosy feel to it, lovely decor with lots of twinkly lights and plants. It has a very welcoming vibe with friendly staff whom I always have a chat and laugh with., Great coffees and cakes and the hot chocolate is divine , the food is excellent, their cooked breakfasts are superb . On a sunny day it's often packed outside, there's plenty of large tables and seats with a great view of the park , it's also dog friendly. What more would you want from a cafe? They even have wreath making workshops and pop up markets at Christmas as well as Carol singers from the local church. There's also music nights and a room to hire above the cafe, considering hiring it for my partner's birthday. They've also recently introduced a Chatty Cafe Scheme on Wednesday's. This really is a great a find, you won't be disappointed!”

“Very welcoming attentive staff. They apologised because it was busy so, there were no tables available inside. This was not an issue, it was nice to sit in the sun. We got our menu and they explained they would be back in a few minutes, to give us a chance to read it and our order was taken a few minutes later. The coffee was hot and is one of the best I have ever had. The breakfast wrap was fresh and tasted amazing. Will definitely we back, great service and food”

“What a fantastic place this is. The food is excellent, freshly cooked, very tasty and well presented. There is a good choice of hot and cold drinks (fresh lemon water on tap). The staff are always friendly and helpful, making your visit a great experience. I’ve noticed they have a range of books for children to read while waiting for their food, what a lovely idea.”
