About The Bay Tree
The Bay Tree builds its day around breakfast, a small café on Withermoor Road in Bournemouth with a limited number of tables. The traditional full breakfast arrives in a mammoth portion and comes with a coffee included, so a plate and a drink land together for one order. A lunch menu runs alongside it, taking in sandwiches such as the chicken club, plus omelettes and gammon and eggs served with chunky chips. Orders are taken at the table and you settle up at the end. The entrance is step-free and wheelchair accessible for visitors with mobility needs, and high chairs are on hand for families with young children. Dogs are welcome in the café. It opens Tuesday to Saturday during the daytime and closes on Mondays and Sundays, and reservations are recommended given how few tables there are.

Customer Review Summary
The full traditional breakfast is what brings most people through the door, praised as a mammoth plate that comes with a coffee and is served until late morning, with several describing everything as freshly cooked and hot, right down to balanced temperatures across the beans and a runny egg with crispy bacon. Close behind, lunch draws its own regulars: the burger with chunky chips and the gammon, eggs and chips both called delicious and generously portioned, and one visitor singles out a huge chicken club sandwich alongside proper chunky chips. Omelettes come up as light and fluffy, and the coffee is repeatedly called good. Reviewers describe the staff as friendly and welcoming and the room as cosy and small, and one suggests booking a table in advance after being squeezed in. The main sour note comes from a breakfast visit where an order appeared to be forgotten, arriving three quarters of an hour in after later arrivals had been served, leaving a companion's coffee cold, and that diner objected less to the delay than to the explanation offered.

“⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Lovely little café! We had the burger with chunky chips and the gammon, eggs and chips – both were absolutely delicious, fresh and really well cooked. Great portions, cosy atmosphere and friendly staff. Brilliant value for money, would definitely return and highly recommend!”

“Went here for breakfast. It wasn’t too busy, there were tables free. Ordered and our coffees came quickly. Then we waited and waited, no food, although a couple who came in some time after us got theirs. Finally we asked (at this point nobody else was waiting for their food) and the waitress said it was coming and everyone had come in at the same time. This was not true. We had clearly been forgotten. So we got our food 45mins after coming in and my friend’s coffee was cold as she didn’t want to drink it on an empty stomach. On paying the same excuse was offered. We accept that sometimes orders get forgotten but it’s a small place and it was obvious we were waiting. We did not appreciate being lied to. Just being honest would have meant we’d go back another time.”
