Customer Review Summary
The full English fry up, called the Billy Bunter or Fat Boy Slim depending on size, anchors most visits, with reviewers praising thick bacon, perfectly poached eggs, fried potatoes, and hash browns served in generous portions alongside included tea or juice. Several describe the value as strong for breakfasts under fifteen pounds, and staff are repeatedly called friendly, with mentions of banter with regulars and one account of a birthday candle brought out unprompted. A few also note the low wait times even when busy. Not every visit matches this: one diner reports dirty tables left uncleaned, missed items, weak tea, and rubbery undercooked bacon, though the same review found the hash browns good. Separately, one reviewer describes being shouted at over bringing a registered assistance dog, raising a discrimination concern under the Equality Act. Most accounts, though, close on small touches like the free candle for a birthday or a plate piled with four hash browns instead of the expected portion.

“Ok but not great by a long stretch. Dirty tables, staff clearly saw me clearing away the mess left by the previous customer but they didn't come and wipe the table clean. Items were missed off of my order, and to top it off the tea was a really weak brew. Bacon was a bit rubbery and undercooked. The hash browns were lovely though.”

“Binnies Cafe is an absolute gem and everything a traditional English cafe should be. It's a no-frills, homely spot, full of life thanks to the local community, where the focus is simply on great, honest food cooked to order and served with a smile . It genuinely feels like visiting your nan's for a weekend fry-up . The food is outstanding. I had the Billy Bunter special, a huge, nostalgic breakfast that was perfectly cooked – the eggs were spot on, the bacon was savory, and everything was fresh and hot . The portions are very generous, and the value is incredible. It's a really nice touch that tea or coffee, as well as orange or apple juice, is included with most breakfasts . The staff are brilliant – incredibly friendly, personal, and always up for a bit of banter with regulars . They make you feel right at home. Even when it's packed (which it often is!), the wait time for food is still low . It's clean, has a 5-star food hygiene rating , and is simply a wonderful place to start your day. If you're in Bournemouth, you cannot miss it!”

“Always suspicious about a claim to serve Bournemouth’s best breakfast but in this case it may very well be true. Lovely thick bacon, perfectly poached eggs, great fried potatoes, served by pleasantly friendly staff. Top marks!”

“Traditional cafe! Would highly recommend to anyone for breakfast as the portion sizes are huge and very reasonable priced. The ladies that served us were also brilliant. Overall a very pleasant experience.”

“If, like we was, you’re looking for a traditional British “greasy spoon” then look no further. Binnies will walk you back through decades to when the full English fry up and cafe was an integral part of the British cuisine and culture. As you approach the cafe you can catch the scent of coffee and fried breakfast. That alone was worth the price we paid. The quality of food is extremely high, and there is a great choice on the menu. There was also no issue with swapping, or adding items to the breakfast we had. Portion size was perfect. It came with a small orange juice, and a cup of tea for a great price. (Oh and the sliced potatoes are a superb touch) When you come here you don’t just get breakfast. You get pure nostalgia with every single bite. We will be back here and I cannot wait. Great staff, great food, great atmosphere. Thank you Binnies!”
