About Smiths - Bourne
On North St in Bourne, Smiths - Bourne is a restaurant with a beer garden that backs onto a park and a live band on its entertainment bill. The small plates menu is set up for sharing, and the halloumi fries are one of the dishes on it. Guests order a starter alongside a main, so the menu works as a multi-course meal. Dogs are welcome. Parking at the restaurant is limited, and extra spaces are available at the Burghley Centre, a short walk away.

Customer Review Summary
The main complaints concern service and value. One party waited 50 minutes for starters against a quoted 40, never received a third main after being told the ticket was voided, and gave up at 3pm to request a refund. That reviewer also found the new menu prices did not match the till, and that a main could not be ordered without a starter. Another family found service slow over about 90 minutes, with burnt burger buns and drinks that felt pricey. One reviewer said the 50% off food made it worth a visit, and the refunded meal remained unpaid back to the reviewer's account when they wrote.

“A really unfortunate review to be writing, considering we had a favourable experience a few weeks previous. We arrived at Smiths at 1:15pm, and by the time we eventually left at 3pm, we still hadn’t received one of our orders. The new menus are extremely misleading with incorrect prices. You cannot order a main without a starter. So when I went to order I was told I needed to add starters to the meals. I did, and when I was given a total it was the wrong amount. When I questioned it, I was told that one of the items I ordered was the incorrect amount on the menu and it was £2 more on their till. They didn’t let me know this until I questioned the price, no apology, I was just told I needed to pay the till price. I didn’t accept this and said I would only pay the menu price (No notice = Breach of the Consumer Protection Law). After then ordering our food, it took 50 minutes to receive our starters. (We were told that it was a 40 minute wait). 2 of the mains were quick to come out after the starters but we had to tell them that the peas were wrong and it should be 1 mushy and 1 garden. Then we said that we hadn’t received our 3rd meal. They came back to us and said the ticket was voided (???), that it would be 5-10 minutes and offered us all a free drink and apologised. Only I needed one, I asked for a bitter shandy, and was brought a pale ale shandy….. 20minutes later (well over the 5-10 promised) there was still no 3rd meal. The other 2 people in our party had finished their food at this point. It was 3pm by the time we gave up. I asked for a refund on my meal that hadn’t come - no apology. They said they would refund me, I tapped my card but I don’t see the refunded £ in my bank account yet (I suppose sometimes the refunds take a few days?). Again, disappointing. The food we did receive was great and we appreciated that it was dog friendly. From reading previous reviews it seems that they really need to look into their customer service. Will not be returning, will not be recommending.”

“We thoroughly enjoyed the experience, the ambience was good, the food good, and our waitress, I think her name was Jasmin, was excellent, nothing to much trouble.”

“Love this pub for food and atmosphere. Had the small plates this evening. Although fabulous, not as good as last year with the choice. Last year's halloumi fries were so much better and quality didnt feel the same generally. However, can't take away its still a fab place to eat and meet up with friends.”

“We absolutely love this place! Excellent food, wonderful staff, and a nice atmosphere. Lively without being chaotic, busy without being uncomfortably crammed, lots of character that didn't come out of a catalogue. Just a really nice pub to spend some time and it also has a great beer garden.”
