About Li Wah
Li Wah is a long-established, family-run Chinese restaurant in Billingham, at 43 West Precinct, close to the Forum theatre. The menu includes set meals and a three-course lunch menu. Spare ribs are served as a starter, and the mains include Peking beef with chips and sweet and sour chicken. Dishes are cooked to order, so food can take a while to arrive. The restaurant is closed on Wednesdays and open the other days of the week. The family is planning a move to a new location.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often praise the food itself, singling out the Cantonese chicken, sweet and sour chicken and king prawn curry, with peking beef, spare ribs and a minestrone soup of the day also named. Close behind is the lunch menu, described as incredible value for three courses, along with the kitchen's willingness to provide plain noodles for a picky eater. Several mention lovely, friendly staff and generous portions that came home as leftovers. The recurring complaint is slow service on busy evenings, especially for groups heading to a show at the forum theatre. One party ordered around 7:30 and saw a starter only at 8:10, another waited over an hour for mains, and a birthday group went an hour between starters and mains. One reviewer advises allowing three hours before a show. Another notes dishes are cooked to order, which adds to the wait. Single reviewers also found the toilets tired and a takeaway collection curt. Some tables paid for what they had received and left before reaching the theatre.

“My absolute favourite restaurant! The food is always delicious. I am quite a picky eater and they are able to provide plain noodles which is fantastic. It is always quiet creating a peaceful atmosphere and meaning the service is pretty quick. The staff are lovely. The pricing is amazing too, £8.50 for a 3 course lunch! Overall fantastic.”
