About Taylor & Clay Grill

Taylor & Clay Grill is a steak house in Belfast on Church Ln, built around an open kitchen and a bespoke Asador wood-fired grill. Seats at a grilling rail let guests watch their steaks being cooked. Steak leads the menu, with cuts including Wagyu tri-tip, and each order comes with a choice of sauces. The Asador plate combines steak, chicken, shrimp and salmon, served with chimichurri, so a table can sample several proteins in one dish. Starters include Padrón peppers, and desserts finish the meal for those who want one. The bar pours cocktails alongside a wine list that includes bottles of red.

Customer Review Summary

Steak is the main draw, with reviewers describing the Irish fillet, a medium rare ribeye and a Wagyu tri-tip as cooked exactly as ordered and tender. Close behind are the padrón peppers, one reviewer crediting a miso glaze for their stickiness and sweetness, and the sauces, including anchovy and mustard butter, burnt onion cream and blue cheese. The Asador plate of steak, chicken, shrimp and salmon and a fresh seafood plate also earn praise, and sticky toffee pudding and lemon posset get a mention for dessert. Staff are repeatedly called friendly, knowledgeable and attentive without hovering, with one server credited for a great wine recommendation. The main complaint is cost: one party called it expensive for two courses and a few drinks, and another said it is not cheap. One reviewer found the fries underwhelming, with lots of small bitty ones, and another thought the ambience unremarkable. Diners seated at the grilling rail call the show spectacular, and one group without a booking were still found seats.

“Went over the weekend, and was definitely not disappointed! Service was 5* - staff were all really nice & attentive without hovering and the steak was brilliant. Got the Wagyu tri-tip, it was cooked to perfection, the place was busy but not overcrowded so you could still have a conversation. Can’t believe I’ve walked past this place so many times and never thought to go in, it’s a really great spot👌🏻”

“Ate here on a Sunday evening. It has a great modern feel and the staff are extremely polite and attentive. Came for steak but accidentally discovered probably the best pardon peppers I've ever eaten (and I have eaten a lot!). Piping hot and the secret? A miso glaze that gave them an extra level of stickiness ans sweetness. Incredible. Had a ribeye medium rare for the main and it didn't disappoint. Deliciously tender and cooked exactly as I would like. Fries were a little underwhelming (quite a few small bitty ones) but didn't detract too much. Splurged on a delicious bottle of merlot from the wine list, which rounded off a fantastic meal. Highly recommended.”

“Visiting Belfast for a few days with friends, we booked a table here after reading the excellent Google reviews, and it certainly didn’t disappoint. From the moment we arrived, the service was warm, friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere was relaxed with a great buzz. To start, we shared the padrón peppers and freshly baked bread with an amazing selection of dips – a simple starter done exceptionally well. For the main course, all three of us chose the locally sourced Irish fillet steak, which was cooked perfectly. The range of sauces was a refreshing change from the usual steakhouse options. The anchovy & mustard butter was packed with flavour, the burnt onion cream was rich and velvety, and the blue cheese sauce was absolutely delicious. Although we were already full, we couldn’t resist sharing two desserts between the three of us. The sticky toffee pudding was wonderfully indulgent, while the lemon posset was light, fresh and the perfect way to finish the meal. We started with Hugo cocktails, enjoyed a lovely bottle of red wine with dinner, and rounded off the evening with another cocktail. A fantastic dining experience from start to finish. Great food, excellent service and a brilliant atmosphere. I’d highly recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Belfast, and we’ll definitely be back next time we’re in the city.”

“Expensive, but undeniably delicious. We came as a party of seven, and while the ambience wasn’t anything remarkable, the food more than made up for it. I rarely order steak when eating out because it’s so easy to replicate at home, but this one genuinely impressed. The only real downside was the cost: about £100 per person for two courses and a few drinks. A great meal, just a pricey one.”
