About Hideaway Kitchen

Hideaway Kitchen is a restaurant set inside the 218 Redbrick mill site in Batley, where a conservatory provides extra seating and dogs are welcome at the tables. The menu covers brunch options alongside more substantial plates, with chicken cashew salad among the lunch choices, and coffee is served through the day alongside almond croissant, offered warmed or not, and sausage rolls from the counter. The kitchen prepares halal food, which shapes the ingredients used across the menu. Brunch brings regulars in for the morning service, and the counter-style setup keeps ordering simple for visitors browsing the mill. The Redbrick mill setting gives the room an industrial backdrop, and the conservatory fills with light during the day.

Customer Review Summary

Two less positive experiences sit alongside that pattern. One reviewer describes an almond croissant served despite a request not to have it warmed, and reports the server's response to feedback as dismissive. Another reviewer describes being served a sausage roll frozen solid in the middle, though staff replaced it.

“Charlotte was our server and her and the team provided excellent food , service with charm. The food quality was exceptional and we shall be back . Great choices”

“We were served a sausage roll that was frozen solid in the middle. The staff were fine — replacing it with an unfrozen one, and replacing a drink after the first one we were served had zero flavour. But I’m afraid that doesn’t balance out our initial bad experience.”
  • Leigh Phillips
“Has a gorgeous chicken cashew salad. Thank you Jacob !”
  • Will Procter
“Lovely place for brunch, fabulous fresh & local food.”

“Pleasant enough space but a less than great experience. Ordered an almond croissant and was asked if I wanted it warming, to which I said no. The croissant was past its best, slightly stale but I couldn’t be bothered to send it back. When my husband paid he was asked how the food had been, so he offered feedback on the croissant. Rather than offer any kind of apology for my disappointment, the sever told him that it is meant to be served warm, and that’s why it appeared stale. A purely arrogant response. If it was meant to be warm, then don’t give me the option. If you ask a customer for feedback, receive it with grace. A shame, because my husband’s food was ok, as was the coffee. A small place like this needs to rely on good service, especially with the prices they charge. We didn’t get that today.”
