About Ebberley Arms

Ebberley Arms is an owner-run pub in Barnstaple, at 40 Bear St. The owners are on hand alongside the bar staff, so the people who run the business are part of the team that serves customers. Dogs are welcome, which means anyone visiting with a dog can bring it along rather than leave it at home. For anyone in Barnstaple who wants to deal directly with the owners, the pub puts them in the same place as the bar team.

Customer Review Summary

Reviewers most often single out the friendly welcome from the owners, who several say couldn't do enough for them. One praises the beer as good and well priced, and another calls the food delicious, while a cyclist mentions rooms and a cheap breakfast. The caveats: one visitor found no food served despite signs outside, only home made baps left on the bar, and another notes limited choice of ciders.

  • Jane Hellman
“On entering the pub the bar staff asked if we were looking for food as they don't serve it, we wasn't just a nice cold drink, she mentioned that it advertised food outside but they don't, just some home made baps on the bar which was left in this heat! She was friendly enough. Think this is a pub for regulars as everyone was staring felt a little uncomfortable.”
  • Monty
“Popular locals town pub, limited choice of ciders”
