Customer Review Summary
Pork belly is the dish reviewers return to most, described as crisp to perfection and paired with a large portion, with the steak pie, salmon risotto, and seafood linguine also named. Close behind are the steaks and the wine list, with one diner pairing a fillet and a Malbec, and desserts such as the pecan tart and apple pie with ice cream draw praise. Reviewers describe welcoming, quick, attentive staff and a beautiful dining room, and several call the prices reasonable for the quality. The steak is the recurring complaint. Two reviewers found theirs fatty or gristly, and one took it home for the cat, while another said the portion of linguine was not generous. One reviewer felt the music was too loud to talk over, and a quiet Monday evening ended with a free dessert after the fatty steak.

“The decor is lovely and the food was good but I wouldn't go again. I can get a fairly decent steak at my local pub for £10. The one I had at Turpins, although cooked well was a bit gristly so took it home for the cat.”

“Almost a five but we felt music was too loud and not conducive to a wide range of clientele. It’s a personal thing I appreciate and some might have liked it. Music needs to be background. The focus is being able to communicate over it. It’s not a club. Lovely food and people though! They didn’t automatically apply a tip to the bill which we prefer. Tipped them anyway.”

“Absolutely beautiful restaurant, great atmosphere and quick service. Prices aren’t too bad considering how delicious and high-standard it was. I had the salmon risotto which was delicious and paired lovely with the house white wine. My partner had the belly pork and it was crisp to perfection. The deserts were lovely too I had pecan tart which exceeded my expectations. No faults whatsoever. Absolutely made our weekend away, and the staff were very attentive and friendly. Would definitely recommend to anyone who fancies a nice high-quality meal.”

“Middle of the week, so probably suffering from lack of folk going out to eat. Lovely place. Staff were very welcoming. Service was present without being suffocating. Food was tasty. Prices were middle to high. Seafood linguine was tasty. Portion was not generous but it was enough. I enjoyed the evening. Would recommend.”

“We stopped here for lunch on the way to Lichfield and were shown through to a table in a large dining room with ample space between tables which made for a more private occasion. The waiting staff were welcoming and polite and were knowledgeable about the menu. The very extensive menu at first sight begot a sense of apprehension as sometimes vast menus are indicative of a more pedestrian offer. Our initial fears were mistaken and the food was superb and represented excellent value for money. The scallop starter and main were both exquisite, perfectly cooked and beautifully presented. The seabass main with pancetta, gnocchi and mussels was generous with two sizeable fillets of fish and absolutely delicious. We were pleasantly surprised that such quality food cost so little. The wine list was extensive and contained a good array of wines which complemented the menu well with food pairing suggestions. The double espresso was perfect and served in the correct heated cup with an amaretto biscuit. The bathroom facilities were spotlessly clean and there is ample private parking. Altogether this is a real local gem and definitely worth a visit. Well done to the whole team and we will definitely come again.”
