Quick info
About Hare & Hounds Inn, Luzley
Hare & Hounds Inn, Luzley is a gastropub on Luzley Rd in Ashton Under Lyne, a country pub set in farmland in the hills. A terrace overlooks a field, and tapas is served there. The kitchen cooks food fresh, so dishes take a little longer to arrive. Lamb features on the menu, with a lamb shank and a lamb Henry, and sticky toffee pudding is the dessert. Sunday lunch comes with roast ham. Food deals run on Thursdays, and the pub holds event days, including a St Patrick's Day event. Dogs are welcome.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often return for the slow-cooked lamb, with one diner describing a lamb Henry that falls apart and another a lamb shank that fell off the bone. Close behind are the steak pie, a mixed grill, and a roast ham Sunday lunch, while the chilli garlic tiger prawns, the pate, and the mussels on the terrace also draw praise. Desserts such as sticky toffee pudding and crumble and custard get repeated mentions, and one reviewer called the colcannon at a St Patrick's Day event out of this world. Staff are described as friendly and welcoming, and the country setting among farmland and hills comes up several times. The one recurring caveat is pace: a couple of reviewers say food takes a little longer than elsewhere, with one noting a slight wait on starters, though they would rather it be freshly cooked. That same reviewer said staff took a bottle of wine off the bill to make up for the delay.

“Absolutely great place to eat. I've been now quite a few times and loved it every time. Lovely staff and great food. They have deals on food on Thursdays. Food takes a little longer than some places but I'd rather have it take longer and know its freshly cooked.”

“Absolutely fantastic food and dessert. I had a lamb shank, which fell off the bone, very tasty. Followed by a lovely sticky toffee pudding. The drinks were good too... Great service and a friendly welcoming atmosphere. We will definitely return.”

“First time here and won’t be the last. Lovely country pub in the middle of farmland. The service was excellent - every person who dealt with us had a smile on their face and went above and beyond. The food was brilliant. I had a mixed grill and my wife had a roast ham Sunday lunch. Both were faultless. For dessert, I had sticky toffee pudding and my wife had crumble and custard. No complaints at all. Just quality food in a lovely pub. We will return.”
