About Lucille's

Lucille's is a Southern restaurant in Houston, serving modern takes on Southern classics in a vintage house setting. A classically trained chef leads the kitchen, applying traditional technique to familiar dishes while a bar and brunch service extend the offering beyond dinner. Shrimp & Grits and Chicken & Waffles anchor the menu as popular mains, joined by the Yardbird L as a composed plate. The format works as both a sit-down restaurant and a brunch destination, with a bar that supports the dining room. Mains span a mid-range price tier across a list of 67 dishes, giving the menu room to cover Southern and seafood expectations without narrowing to a single specialty. The vintage house setting frames the meal, and reservations are advised for weekend brunch and evening service.

Customer Review Summary

Diners consistently highlight the service at Lucille's, with multiple reviewers describing the staff as sweet, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu, making large parties and solo diners alike feel welcome. The fried green tomatoes come up repeatedly as a standout starter, with one reviewer calling them flavorful and a dish they would order again, alongside the chili biscuits and mac and cheese, which is described as incredibly creamy. Brunch is a frequent draw, with the croissant French toast, shrimp and grits, and oxtail omelette earning praise, and one reviewer calls it possibly the best lunch they have ever had in North America. A few note trade-offs: one found the menu limited for their taste and portions small compared to the prices, and another mentions the wings arrived overcooked and had to be sent back. Several reviewers suggest making a reservation, and one adds that street parking is plentiful.

Visited Lucille’s for lunch while I was in the area 🍽️✨ When we arrived, they were serving their brunch menu. I didn’t realize that beforehand and probably would have planned my visit around their lunch or dinner menu instead, simply because those options seem more aligned with my personal preferences. During my visit, I ordered the chicken and waffles along with the fried green tomato appetizer and the chili biscuits 🍗🧇🍅 Out of everything I tried, the fried green tomatoes were definitely the standout favorite for me 😍 They were flavorful and easily the dish I would order again. The rest of the food was good overall, especially considering brunch-style dishes are not usually my first choice. I did find the menu somewhat limited for my personal taste. The chili biscuits were also much smaller than I expected, although they did have good flavor. Others who enjoy brunch-style dishes would probably appreciate the selection more than I did. The waitstaff was very pleasant, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu, which always makes for a better dining experience 🙌🏽 Overall, it’s a nice restaurant with a welcoming atmosphere. If the menu offerings align with your tastes, I’d definitely say give them a try 😊

We are visitors from Vancouver and chose Lucille's for our first dinner in Houston. It was a fantastic experience! The food was incredible, especially the steak and the pork shank—both were cooked to perfection. Our server, Linda, was amazing! She was so friendly and even introduced us to the oldest craft beer in Texas. We had a wonderful night thanks to her. Highly recommended!

Nice place. 1st time ever going even thought I've driven or ridden past in multiple times before. Definitely a hidden gem. In my opinion the food was good but not super flavorful. Portions are small compared to prices charged as well. …

Wife took me for my birthday to try a new spot and the first thing that stood out was the service. Everyone was super polite warm and helpful with recommendations, if you can ask for Kassy who was 10/10 on knowledge of the menu and overall …

Never disappoints! Cocktails were nice. Food was flavorful. The wings were very over cooked so I did send them back. They had live music for the sunday bunch crowd and the band did an amazing job!!
