About Jacob's Pickles
Jacob's Pickles is a Southern restaurant and bar on Columbus Avenue in New York, serving fried chicken biscuit sandwiches, housemade pickles, and beers. Much of its identity comes from the housemade pickle program, which shows up across the menu and anchors the Southern bar format. The Fried Pickles are a popular starter, the Honey Chicken and Pickles pairs the kitchen's fried chicken with its signature pickles, and the Croque Madame offers a composed bistro-style main alongside the Southern staples. Mains span a range of formats and sizes, from sandwiches to larger plates, and the bar pours beer to complement the food. Reservations are advised during peak hours, and the room works for both sit-down meals and casual drinks.

Customer Review Summary
Diners consistently point to the Honey Chicken and Pickles as the signature draw, with the hot honey fried chicken and biscuit sandwiches close behind. Reviewers repeatedly describe the portions as huge, with several noting that the poutine, the Maple Chicken tenders on challah, and the Oreo pudding are massive enough to share across a table. The homemade biscuits, the Pickled Sampler with string beans, carrots, beets and jalapeños, and the deviled eggs come up as favorites, along with cocktails like the strawberry jam drink and root beer floats. A recurring complaint centers on chicken that arrives overcooked or hard, mentioned across the chicken and toast, chicken Caesar wrap, and Buffalo mac and cheese, and a few reviewers note that the grits and collards need more seasoning and a coarser texture. One reviewer also flags that dessert options were already limited before 8pm. Service is frequently described as friendly and swift, and several suggest checking in with multiple people when arriving with a large party.

“You don't have to love pickles or pickling but you should! Their Pickled Sampler which includes: 3-4 different types of pickles, String Beans, Carrots, Beets and Jalapeños is exquisite! It's a lot, very shareable! Shared with table of six (6) & STILL had to take home leftovers. Deviled Eggs are pillowy clouds of savoriness. Smoked Okra and Chiles are a must! With slivers of smoked Garlic to accompany and enhance. The Maple Chicken (Tenders) and French Challah Bread were humongous and enough to feed an army! The Grits and Collards need help, hence the 4 versus 5 stars. Grits need to be a more coarse stoneground versus the Cream of Wheat texture with more salt to give flavor! The Collards that are combined with the Black Eyed Peas need the Smokiness that was in the Peas, along with a finer cut, a tad more salt and more stewing for that real Pot Licka'! If you're doing Southern, it must be all-the-way RIGHT! The Smothered Chicken and Homemade Biscuits and the Regular did need the sauces to take the flavor UP (from Barbecue to Buffalo.) The Elote (Grilled Corn) with Pickled Jalapeños was slammin'! The Homemade Biscuit Special was Blueberry Lemon, which was turned into a warm Bread Pudding, topped with Vanilla ice cream. The portion was enough to share with our Table of 6, with a bit leftover. Street parking only so Sundays are your friend. Service is exceptional, swift and personable. For large parties, you must check-in with at least 3. JP is a definite NY must! 🗽 🍎”

“I recently visited Jacob's Pickles and really enjoyed the experience. The atmosphere is lively and fun, perfect for brunch or dinner with friends. The portions are huge, the biscuits were amazing, and the fried chicken and mac and cheese were delicious comfort food favorites. Service was friendly and attentive, even while busy. It can get loud and crowded, but that’s part of the energetic NYC vibe. Overall, a great spot if you’re craving hearty Southern-style comfort food on the Upper West Side.”

“Brunch at Jacob’s Pickles was a great vibe. The strawberry jam cocktail was delicious (just wish it had a little more alcohol). Buffalo mac and cheese and chicken Caesar wrap were tasty, but the chicken was a bit hard in both. The Oreo pudding was HUGE, perfect for sharing. Music was nostalgic 2000s hip hop/R&B, and our waiter Darrick was super friendly and attentive. Loved the ambiance and would definitely come back to try more items.”
