Dim Sum Palace
Quick info
About Dim Sum Palace
Dim Sum Palace is a Cantonese and dim sum restaurant operating as a cha chaan teng in New York, at 123 William St. Much of its character comes from a broad menu of 49 items spanning classic dim sum and Hong Kong-style cafe staples, with mains in a range that suits both quick lunches and longer shared meals. The signature Dimsum Palace Royal Seafood w Hawaii Nut anchors the dim sum side, while Congee offers a traditional rice porridge option and Kung PO Chicken brings a familiar savory plate to the table. The menu covers both dim sum and congee styles, giving groups a mix of small and larger plates to order across the meal. Reservations are advised during peak hours, as the dining room draws steady traffic from those seeking Cantonese staples in a cha chaan teng format.

Customer Review Summary
Diners consistently highlight the dim sum as the standout draw, with pork shu mai, har gow, shrimp dumplings, and Shanghai pork baos singled out as favorites across multiple reviews. Yang chow fried rice earns repeated praise for being light, not greasy, and well-balanced, while the Mongolian beef is noted for tender meat and sweet, fully cooked eggs. Service is described as prompt and friendly, with food coming out fast even at peak lunch and dinner hours. The FiDi location draws appreciation for its modern, clean setting and a private room in the back that several recommend for larger groups. A few reviewers note that the space can get loud around 8pm during the dinner rush, and one found the LED wall art a bit overwhelming after a longer visit. One reviewer also mentioned the coconut cake had a jello-like texture, though still tasty.

“Coming from trying many Chinese restaurants, the portions here are generous, and the dishes were not oily. The plating could be improved a bit though for Chinese broccoli dish. The presentation made it looked like parts were burnt but it was the addition of fried olives in the sauce. The Yangzhou fried rice stood out. After trying several places in NYC, this one was among the top. It was light, not greasy, with fluffy rice and well-cooked eggs. The portion was fitting for three people. The Mongolian beef was even better. The beef was tender, and the onions were sweet and fully cooked without any raw taste. Although the restaurant is known for dim sum, the regular dishes are worth ordering too, especially the fried rice and beef stir-fry. The atmosphere is a bit loud since dinner time can get busy around 8pm.”

“It is the third time we came back here for dinner during our one-week visit in NYC for my daughter's college graduation ceremony. We have tried almost all of the veggie dishes on the menu. We love each one of them.”

“One of the best Chinese restaurant in NYC. From cleanliness, fresh ingredients, perfectly prepared delicious authentic dishes. Here’s the list of the dishes I tasted so far : yang chow fried rice, salt and pepper shrimp, beef stew and duck over rice, seafood shumai, pork and shrimp shumai, crispy garlic spareribs and egg tart pie.”

“Our go-to dim sum restaurant, consistently hits. We usually get take out for convenience, but it’s a treat to dine in with their pretty decor (the lit up scenic walls change the ambiance entirely, second best thing to actually being at the top of a mountain 😂). They have some fun dishes like eggplant with salted fish, and a stir fried turnip cake with duck. Classics are solid too.”

“There are many branches of Dim Sum Palace in Manhattan. However, the offerings are not consistent. Here on William Street, the cuisine is top notch. I ordered the Hong Kong B.B.Q. Roast duck over rice and pork and chive dumplings. There …”
