About The Dead Rabbit
The Dead Rabbit is a two-story bar in New York at 30 Water St, combining a lunch taproom with a parlor that serves small plates and vintage cocktails. Its drink program leans toward vintage cocktails, while the food side offers small plates suited to sharing or pairing with those drinks. Scotch Egg Organic Es appears among the popular dishes, and Fried Chicken is another popular menu offering. The lunch taproom format gives the ground-floor space a daytime role, while the parlor setup supports seated service for drinks and plates later in the day. Customer Review Summary
The Dead Rabbit draws reviewers in with its standout vintage cocktails and elevated pub food, with the Irish coffee singled out repeatedly as a must-try and the lobster deviled eggs frequently called a highlight. The Parlor upstairs earns consistent praise for its comfortable, quieter atmosphere, with several noting that reservations are the way to go and that even with one, a short wait at the door is common. Reviewers also highlight the Dingle Pie, the sticky toffee pudding, and the oysters as memorable food choices, and many describe the bartenders and servers as knowledgeable and attentive even when the place is packed. The main trade-off is that the bar gets very busy and loud, with one reviewer cautioning against coming for a quiet evening and another noting a two-hour seating limit during peak times.

“We had a reservation in the parlor and had a really great time. The bar is quite busy and sort of unpleasant to get in simply from the crowd - even with a reservation you will wait. Once you’re sitting down and enjoying yourself it’s a comfortable, quiet atmosphere upstairs. The cocktails were excellent and we enjoyed everything - we’d get more next time but we didn’t quite have the time!”

“Came for the live music, Irish coffee and Sunday Prime Rib Roast; was not disappointed. Was seated at the cozy table in the back, place was packed by then and service a bit slow. Also got some bangers & mash and soup. One of the medium …”

“The oysters were amazing, super fresh, lemony, and exactly how I like them. We got 12 oysters for $48, which is honestly a great deal for NYC, especially during happy hour. Definitely worth coming for happy hour if you want an even better value. The only downside was that the place was pretty loud, but overall the food and atmosphere were great.”

“What a wonderful place. We started with the Lobster Deviled Eggs. Then we had the Dingle Pie and the NA TLC and NA Irish Coffee. All were excellent! The pie crust, in particular, was near perfection. Our server Jonah was attentive and charismatic. Overall a wonderful experience!”

“The Dead Rabbit has become my favorite bar in NYC. The Parlor on the first floor is amazing. I went there for a few cocktails, and the bartenders’ knowledge, along with the vibe, is top-notch. Definitely my kind of experience. Really worth it.”
