  “I had a very disappointing experience. Before my hair was even braided, they pulled out a lot of my hair while trying to blow-dry it. The blow dryer they used wasn’t effective, and instead of using the proper tools for my thick hair, they tried to detangle it with a small fine-tooth comb, which was painful and caused unnecessary breakage. The entire process was rough and uncomfortable. The person braiding my hair also had an attitude throughout the appointment, making the experience even more uncomfortable. To make matters worse, the finished style was poor quality. My braids were uneven, and the parts were noticeably crooked. I expected much better professionalism and technique, especially considering the cost. Unfortunately, I can’t recommend this salon based on my experience.”

  “Hair is pixie length, no other shop in Winston would attempt to grip my length . I walked in at 2pm and told the ladies I had to be done by 5pm . They had me out by 5:30pm .3-4 ladies at a time . I got shoulder length box braids with added boho. $180 . First time coming and will return”

  “I do not recommend this place at all!! I sent pictures prior before I took the hour drive since my hair is on the shorter side was told they could definitely do the top but would need to see the back in person. Drove up the next day they said they couldn’t do knotless which I figured because of the length of my hair so I was fine with small box braids. There was only one girl to start off with for the first hour and a half roughly, she moved quick and go majority of the back of my head done within that time. (I now see why) as in the 6 days since getting my hair done I have lost a total of 6 braids 3 of which I was able to back in and after that I just gave up as this is unacceptable when I just got these braids done not even a week ago. They eventually had 4 people on my head and it still took 6 hours which is crazy to me. The back parts are bigger than the front and my edges were also braided even after one of the ladies asked if I wanted some left out and I told her yes. They only dipped halfway up the braids which I figured out later and had to redip them myself since it was making the tension even worse cause the hair was still stiff. Also I did agree to 280 for the style and then it hit me a few days later that box braids have always been way cheaper than knotless yet they charged me a knotless price. I paid 280 at another salon just months prior for butt length knotless that were shmedium. The hair looked great after they were done and I looked in the mirror before leaving but if you see the back of my head now (which I didn’t lift the braids in the salon because my hair was so tight) and still is 6 days later that I am still using numbing spray and it’s super itchy and my scalp has red bumps everywhere from all the tension. The top of course looks presentable but that’s because they rushed the back my head but took a lot of time on the front. All the braid I have lost has been in the back of my head btw. They were friendly but 0/10 don’t recommend they seem to only care about the money and not putting out quality work. I have not contacted them to discuss the matter because I will not take another hour drive for them to fix them as I do not care for them to touch my hair after this experience and not to mention the whole back of my head would need to be redone and I don’t have another 3 hours to give them after sitting there for 6 with 4 people on my head.”

  “Disclaimer: This is my true and personal experience. Everyone has their own experiences! I sincerely appreciate the last minute call that beautified my hair since 7 months of my big Chop. STORYTIME: ☺️ I originally came to Winston Salem because of Oumy African Hair Braiding Studio. It would have been my second time going since 2024. I arrived in the morning, paid for parking in the parking lot near the studio, got breakfast, and entered the studio. There was a good number of ladies waiting patiently to have someone do their hair as well. Some ladies waiting told me to sign in on the notebook that had ladies names and phone numbers (I guess for attendance and verification). There were only two Braiders in at that time doing someone’s hair and word went around in the studio that many of their Braiders stayed late overnight due to getting hair done with previous hair appointments. One of the Braiders asked me to come and wanted to know what I wanted. I informed her of me wanting to get box braids. “Mind you” prior to this day, I called a week ago to ask how much for price and etc but never told them my hair was short. She pulled a little portion of my hair and claimed my hair is “short”. I don’t think she even took time to notice that yes my hair was short but it was very grip worthy. (I clearly had shrinkage). She then calls her boss and I get a chance to speak her only for her to tell me that her Braiders don’t want to do braids on short hair and “customers” complain it will fall out. I stepped out the studio and started making calls. I saw Amy’s Studio and called and explained the issue and they told me to come. They throughly looked at my hair and pulled parts to tell me that they can get the job done. Some of their Braiders were on their way, but the moment they arrived they got right to it. From 10am- 8:49pm they all did a GREAT JOB. From 1 Braider to like 5 Braiders during the last portions remaining of the last finishing touches of the hair. They ATE! Price for my hair and length was $260 They have other prices of $180,$200,$240,and $260. All do depend on Length!!! My Colors were #613 and #27. Again I appreciate all the Ladies that helped. Thank you so much and make sure you visit them whenever you’re in Winston Salem or if you stay in Winston Salem. You won’t be disappointed ❤️💯”

  “Been coming here for 11 yrs. Amy is always pleasant and so are her daughters or friends that help out. Whenever I make an appointment it’s no problem to get my hair braided. My hair is always lovely and they give me honest feedback whenever I have a question & if I ask for a price whatever they quote me that’s what I pay… no hidden fee’s or roughness on my hair although it’s long and thick. I love her rose wall. I just went today to get a new look for my vacation and it was worth every dollar. There’s nothing they can’t do from natural styles, sew in, or braids & crochets. Give them a chance to service you. Keep up the great work. 💈”

  “1st time I went was several weeks ago. I liked how it was a walk in services and I didn't really need to make an appointment, at least on the day I went. I loved the vibe, the atmosphere, everyone was super friendly and the young lady that did my 2 feed in braids was excellent, quick and super friendly! I will be back very soon. Prices are also very reasonable!”
