About Rose Mary

Rose Mary is an Italian-Croatian restaurant set in an industrial-chic space with a bar at 932 W Fulton St in Chicago. Its menu draws on both culinary traditions, pairing Mediterranean coastal flavors with Italian technique across a focused list of mains. The Tuna Crudo and Zucchini Fritters appear among the most popular dishes, while the Pork Ribs Pampanella Calabrian Chile Agrodolce Walnuts Cabbage and Yogurt Relish anchors the plate as a composed, signature option. Mains fall within a defined price range, and the bar supports the dining room for those stopping in for a drink or a full meal. Reservations are advised during peak hours, when the room tends to fill.

Customer Review Summary

Rose Mary draws consistent praise for its small plates, with the zucchini fritters singled out repeatedly as a standout, described as perfectly crisp with a strong paprika flavor and a sweet pesto aioli. The pork ribs also earn frequent mentions, with diners calling them tender and flavorful, though a few find the accompanying sauce too sweet. Pastas, particularly the cacio e pepe, draw strong reactions: several call it the best they have had, with a thick, creamy sauce and a pronounced cheese flavor, while others find it too salty or the noodles too al dente, occasionally sticking to the teeth. The chocolate budino and toffee cake round out the meal for many, though one diner notes the coffee ice cream overpowers the budino. Service is frequently described as excellent and attentive, with one server highlighted for seamless, knowledgeable guidance. A recurring complaint centers on pacing, with some tables feeling rushed through courses, and a few mention discomfort with the high chairs. One diner also flags an automatic 4% surcharge on the bill as unwelcome.

We visited Rosemary while my brother was in town after several friends recommended it. Overall, it was good, but I was a bit underwhelmed given the hype. The Rosemary Spritz was excellent, and the tuna was the standout dish. The sauce was fantastic. The zucchini fritters were good, though not particularly memorable. Of the pastas, I enjoyed the cacio e pepe, although it was quite salty. The spaghetti was extremely al dente, almost too much so for my taste. The ribs were also just okay; the sauce was delicious, but the meat was fairly dry. The biggest downside was our seating. We were placed in the very back near the service station, and there was constant activity behind our table throughout the meal. It made the atmosphere feel a bit hectic and took away from the overall experience. Not a bad meal by any means, but it didn't quite live up to the expectations set by all the recommendations.

Rosemary has been on my list for a long time, and I'm happy to say it completely met my expectations! Everything was great—the food was amazing, and the service was excellent as well. Every dish we tried was delicious and beautifully …

We had been wanting to try Rosemary for a long time. We ordered the zucchini fritter, the cacio e pepe, and the pork ribs, and every single dish was outstanding. As you can see, none of the photos show a full plate because we were jumping on the dishes the moment they arrived. Highly recommended, 100% worth it!

We had such a wonderful dinner at Rosemary. We had the shrimp and clams both of which were absolutely delicious. We also had the ribs which were unlike anything we have eaten before. The service was excellent and the atmosphere was energetic. Can’t wait to go back.

We were able to get reservations on Easter, and we definitely were happy with the food options. The kitchen did a great job of ensuring my food was gluten free, and was able to quickly pivot when they realized only my meal was the GF option, not my hubby's. The pea salad was a hit, light and crunchy. Yogurt with berries, yum, thick and creamy. Cauliflower was my favorite mainly due to the outstanding flavors and crispy-ness :). This was a great find in one of the best neighborhoods, Fulton Market.
