About The Wormhole Coffee
The Wormhole Coffee is an '80s-themed rustic coffee shop in Chicago, situated at 1462 N Milwaukee Ave, built around a DeLorean and a focus on locally roasted coffee. The owner description anchors its character: a nostalgic setting paired with coffee sourced from local roasters, giving the space a distinct identity within the neighborhood. The Local Honey Latte stands out among the menu offerings, while Donuts appear as a popular pairing option alongside the coffee program. A Blueberry Muffin rounds out the available food choices. The DeLorean serves as a centerpiece that shapes the visit, drawing attention and giving the shop a memorable visual marker. Seating and service support both laptop work and takeaway orders, fitting different ways patrons use the space throughout the day.

Customer Review Summary
The Ghostly Trio latte is the most frequently praised draw, with reviewers calling it the best latte they have ever had and praising its miso and black sesame balance. The Koopa Troopa coffee and fig matcha also earn praise, and several reviewers describe the donuts as exceptionally chocolaty and moist. The nostalgic 80s decor, movie posters, and the DeLorean draw repeated admiration, and multiple reviewers highlight the baristas as friendly and skilled. A recurring complaint is the severe lack of seating, with several reviewers describing the shop as consistently packed and noting that remote workers occupy tables for hours, making it very difficult to find a place to sit even at off-peak times. One reviewer also describes being ignored at the counter for an extended wait despite being the only customer present.

“This is my favorite coffee shop in the city, hands down. Great vibes, great people, great drinks. The ghostly trio is the best latte I’ve ever had, and I’ve been trying to recreate it for months at home— but it just never tastes as good as their version! The matcha is ok, but what you’re really here for are the lattes— unique, inventive, flavorful, not too sweet, crafted with care. The playlist is always a vibe, the decor is nostalgic and fun, and the baristas are excellent at what they do. Bonus points for the trans flag in the window :) So, why not five stars, you ask? Because it is impossible to find a table. I’ve come to this shop at 9am on a Tuesday, 6pm on a Saturday, noon on a Friday, whenever I can/feel like it. It is always packed. But the people at the tables aren’t sipping drinks, they’re remote working. For hours. Every day. Now I can freely admit I’ve been a part of the problem as I have remote worked here once before, but I stayed for all of 3 hours. I get that if people want to sit there all day they can, but since that’s the case— you guys NEED more seating or a bigger location. I don’t mind getting my latte to go sometimes, but just once, It would be nice to sit down.”

“Fantastic vanilla bean latte that I will be thinking about for a long time! The inside is spacious and quiet with lots of seating comfortable for teleworking, reading, or chatting with friends.”

“Super busy on a Sunday afternoon! Be ready to wait for a seat. However, the coffee was absolutely worth the wait. Easily the best coffee I’ve had in Chicago. I had the Ghost something and it was delightful. …”
