About House Coffee Co

House Coffee Co is a coffee shop at 5162 W Jefferson Blvd in Los Angeles, CA, with a compact menu built around espresso drinks and pastries. The program is anchored by Espresso, which is marked as a popular item on the menu, alongside a Cortado for those ordering a shorter milk-based option. On the food side, the Huckleberry Maple Donut appears as a named pastry, giving the menu a distinct baked offering beyond standard coffee-shop basics. The total menu count of 19 items suggests a focused rather than sprawling selection, with the coffee program leading and a small set of pastries supporting it. Seating and service are geared toward both laptop work and takeaway, fitting the needs of a neighborhood stop along Jefferson Blvd. The shop's identity centers on this straightforward pairing of espresso and pastries rather than an extended kitchen menu.

Customer Review Summary

House Coffee Co draws reviewers back most consistently for its Maple Walnut Latte, a dairy-free milk option sweetened with house-made brown sugar cinnamon syrup that multiple reviewers call out as a standout. The cortado and espresso also earn high marks, and the Strawberry Matcha gets repeated praise as the top non-coffee choice. Diners also single out the brown sugar homemade pop tart and the cheddar croissant as favorites. The atmosphere is repeatedly described as cozy, homey, and quiet, with a long communal table, plugs for laptops, and a chill music level that makes it a popular spot for working or relaxing. The outdoor seating area is frequently mentioned as a plus, and dogs are welcome both inside and outside. On the recurring negative side, several reviewers note that parking is slim and difficult to find, and one detailed account describes an unwelcoming experience with unapproachable staff who did not greet or check on customers, plus add-on charges for milk substitutions, extra syrups, and water that can push a single drink's price higher than expected.

I came here on 5/14/26 for a meeting with a client. Had it not been for that meeting, I probably never would’ve visited this location — and after this experience, I likely won’t return. For context: I’m a social media strategist, event planner, photographer, and videographer. My client specifically chose this spot because she loved the atmosphere. Pros: * Parking available * Nice overall atmosphere * They make their own house syrups * Free WiFi Cons: * No greeting when entering * The space is small, so when staff ignores you, it becomes awkward immediately * I came around 10 AM and there was an older Black man working who was extremely unapproachable * He didn’t explain anything, acknowledge customers, or provide any sort of welcoming energy I even said out loud that I was going to put my stuff down first and come back to order. When I came back to purchase, he STILL didn’t speak. At that point, I walked away. I live in Koreatown — literally coffee mecca territory. I’m not wasting money somewhere that acts bothered by customers. I used their free WiFi for an hour and didn’t buy a single thing because the service completely turned me off. What stood out most was how disconnected the staff seemed from the customers. In the entire hour I was there: * Nobody checked on customers * Nobody worked the room * Nobody asked how food or drinks were * Staff seemed more focused on their regulars than creating a welcoming environment And that’s fine — but in LA, there are WAY too many coffee shops to spend money at one with poor customer service. Honestly, this is why chains like Starbucks stay lucrative. consistency and customer interaction. For the prices, the service should absolutely be better: * They charge for water * They charge for extra syrups * They charge for milk substitutions *They charge for every single add on, you could walk out with a $10 drink, easily. (Go to starbucks at that point) * Drinks average around $8 * Food looked lackluster My suggestion: customer service training. If customers are paying $8+ per drink — plus expected tips — staff should at minimum acknowledge people, speak, and check in occasionally. There were at least 8 people sitting outside for over an hour with zero staff interaction. Overall: not worth the commute or the money. I can’t even comment on the food or coffee because the attitude alone made me not want to order. wifi is fast so thats a plus. I would've offered to film, professional grade content, if literally anyone would have said "hello".

WOW WOW WOW. We were in the area and looking for a quality coffee place. Upon stopping in we were greeted with three wonderful baristas (didn’t catch their names, but the were sooooo sweet to my orange tabby who I was taking for a walk) I’m a coffee snob and it takes a lot for me to love a cafe, but this place hits. You can tell they are using high quality roasts. And at the price point? Unbeatable. This hidden gem deserves your hard earned coin. Also try their humongous cheddar croissant. I wish I took pictures, but easily one of the Top 5 croissants in LA.

Stopped here for a quick drink and pastry and enjoyed the relaxing outdoor seating and friendly staff. I got an iced chai tea latte which was amazing - I’m usually pretty picky about chai tea lattes but this was the perfect balance of milk, tea and sweetness. Also ate a delicious brown sugar homemade pop tart. Would definitely recommend!

Atmosphere is lit. Service is cold and judgmental. And I said I didn't want my croissant warmed up but it was handed to me hot. Soooo..... if you find yourself in this pocket of town it's good in a pinch but not a destination like cafecito organico or even your run of the mill Blue Bottle.

What a cute little store right on the corner . Parking is slim , but that doesn’t stop customers from flocking here . There was already a little line early In the morning and I can see why . Warm and friendly baristas , great ambiance , …
