About The L.A. Cafe
The L.A. Cafe is a counter-serve breakfast and brunch spot in Los Angeles, operating at 639 S Spring St with a coffee store and vegan and vegetarian options alongside its diner-style menu. Scratch-made breakfast and sandwiches anchor the offer, and sidewalk seating supports a quick stop or a casual meal out of the door. The menu runs broad, covering mains, pastries and bakery items, with the Breakfast Burrito standing out as a popular pick among the scratch-made dishes. Pastries and Bakery items round out the morning and daytime offer, giving visitors a simple food pairing for coffee without needing a full plate. The counter-serve format keeps things moving for takeaway, while the sidewalk seating adds a practical option for laptop work or a short sit. The cafe also works as a caterer, extending its scratch-made breakfast and sandwich menu to group orders.

Reviewers most often mention sandwiches, breakfast burrito, lumberjack plate and spicy vegan burger.
Customer Review Summary
Diners consistently praise the sandwiches and breakfast options, with the chipotle chicken burrito, breakfast burrito, and spicy vegan burger singled out as standouts. The Lumberjack plate also draws repeated mentions for being fresh and complete, and several reviewers highlight the quality of the coffee and baked goods. Most describe the food as fresh and flavorful, and a few note the staff are friendly and accommodating with food allergies. On the downside, one reviewer found a hair in their sandwich and reported no restroom available, and another described delivery arriving 30 to 50 minutes late on consecutive days despite reassurances. A handful of reviewers note the street seating area has a suboptimal ambiance, and one mentions an order missing cheese. Several suggest the limited street parking is a challenge, and a few note waits for food during busy periods.

“We went here drunk after an event on a sunday night. Good food for sure! I asked for "the most popular vegan option" and it turned out to be the spicy vegan burger. I inhaled it, so good. I still dream about it. My bf got a grilled chicken plate which he also really liked. Great place to eat!”

“I love it here! Outdoor seating.. it's the quintessential DTLA cafe for locals.. they have everything and it's open super late. Am not gonna lie, I would've loved my egg sandwich a little more undercooked but I also didn't mention that when I ordered, and yes it's pricy but everything in LA is pricy right now.. overall am in love 💕”

“Love Love Love!! I haven’t been to this place in person, I mainly ordered. But every time the quality is superb. The ingredients are fresh and the food/beverages are absolutely refreshing. Definitely recommend.”

“I made sure to call and reseve a delivery with time for an event we were hosting at our office. They were 50 minutes late day 1 and 30 day 2 after reassuring me on day 1 that they would be on time. The food is good but not worth the stress. They are not reliable.”
