About Culinary Dropout
Culinary Dropout is an American restaurant and bar in Phoenix, at 5632 N 7th St, operating as a British-style gastropub chain with quirky decor and inventive cocktails. Much of its character comes from the comfort-food menu and the live-music bar setting, which together shape a dining room geared toward evenings and weekends. The Fried Chicken & Buttermilk Biscuit anchors the mains, while Soft Pretzels & Provolone Fondue serves as a shareable starter alongside the cocktail list. Reservations are advised for peak times, and the bar offers a built-in waiting option when tables fill. Live music runs on a regular schedule, adding a nightlife element to the gastropub format.

Customer Review Summary
Diners consistently praise the atmosphere and service at Culinary Dropout, describing a fun, high-energy vibe and frequently highlighting the free valet as a welcome convenience. The food draws mixed but specific reactions: several reviewers single out the soft pretzels, crispy Brussels sprouts, and fish and chips as standouts, while others note the Korean short ribs and steak frites. However, a recurring complaint centers on inconsistent food quality and value, with multiple diners reporting overcooked or dry burgers, limp fries, and small portions that feel overpriced compared to chain restaurants. Service earns strong marks for attentiveness, though a few note it can lag when the restaurant is packed.

“I stopped by Culinary Dropout on 7th Street after work for a solo happy hour and had such a great experience. I grabbed a seat at the bar, and Ms.Ronnie made the entire visit exceptional with friendly, attentive service and great recommendations. The happy hour menu was fantastic. I ordered the Maui Wowie, an Old Fashioned, the crispy Brussels sprouts, and the crunchy chicken tacos, and every single item was delicious. The drinks were well-balanced, flavorful, and perfectly made, while the food was fresh, crispy, and packed with flavor. The atmosphere was relaxed, welcoming, and perfect for unwinding after a long workday. Even dining alone felt enjoyable thanks to the great service and upbeat vibe. If you’re thinking about trying Culinary Dropout for the first time, I highly recommend the 7th Street Phoenix location. The food, drinks, atmosphere, and service were all outstanding. A special thank you to Ronnie for making the experience memorable. I’ll definitely be back!🌟☺️”

“I did order food 30 minutes before closing. The battered fish was salty and way too much breading. The slaw was sweet and saucy (weird) the salmon that was placed with all the other flavors into a container tasted good separate, but not all together. The French fry’s were limp. The battered fish was not cooked all the way, still had wet batter. The salmon was cooked well. I like the atmosphere, the food just wasn’t all that great. Was not worth $54.”
