About 52 Broadway Coffee Shop
52 Broadway Coffee Shop is a family-run coffee shop in York, at 52 Broadway, run by sisters. The kitchen makes its cakes and bakes in-house, including custom celebration cakes, and vegan and gluten-free versions are available on request. The Rascal cake sits among the bakes, alongside cookies filled with Nutella and caramel, which the team suggests warming up. For something savoury, there is a bacon and sausage bap. The drinks list covers coffee with a choice of syrups, hot chocolate, cold drinks and fresh smoothies. Dogs are welcome, so owners can bring them along.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often praise the baked goods, with the rascal cake and the nutella and caramel filled cookies named specifically, the latter warmed up on a staff suggestion so they turn gooey inside. Cakes are described as outstanding, and one customer ordered cupcakes for a party, including vegan and gluten free ones, while another had a cake made for a 21st birthday. Coffee is close behind, called excellent and super, with every syrup flavour on offer. Also mentioned are the soup, a bacon and sausage bap, fresh smoothies and a hot chocolate topped with Halloween sprinkles and marshmallows. The friendly, family run feel comes up repeatedly, and one writer says they never felt rushed to leave. The one critical review describes an iced coffee that cost far more than expected, with no prices shown on the bakes and abrupt, rushed service. Even so, one customer went back about two hours after a first visit.

“So disappointed with this cafe. I've moved to Fulford recently and its very local so I was excited to try it It was very expensive, I've never been charged so much for an iced coffee! None of the bakes have prices on them so its anyones guess as to what they charged. I didn't query the bill, I just paid and left as I didn't want to cause a scene but was definitely surprised by the amount. The service was a bit abrupt and rushed too. I did come in at 3pm but thats still a whole hour before they close. Overall there are much better cafes in York and this isn't one I'd revisit unfortunately”
