About The Olive Branch Mediterranean Bistro & Wine Bar

The Olive Branch Mediterranean Bistro & Wine Bar is a Mediterranean restaurant at 6 Church St in Worcester, spread over three floors that include a cellar dining area. The bistro is tucked away in an alleyway, so it sits off the street rather than directly on it. The menu runs from tapas served as small plates to meze platters and entrees, with Greek-style flatbreads and arancini balls among the dishes. A weekday tapas deal covers five dishes. Dairy-free and vegan guests are catered for, and desserts are on the menu. The wine bar side also mixes cocktails, including an amaretto sour. Reservations are required.

Customer Review Summary

Tapas is the draw, with reviewers calling the dishes flavourful and cooked to perfection, and singling out the arancini balls and the mushrooms with Gorgonzola. The Greek-style flatbreads earn a mention as a nice change from the usual bruschetta. Close behind are the cocktails, including a fantastic amaretto sour and a pina colada one diner was pleased to find, followed by the desserts and the wine. Several note the restaurant is tucked away in an alleyway and easy to miss. They describe a cosy cellar and an outside area with fairy lights. Staff are repeatedly called friendly and quick, even on a busy Saturday evening. The complaints are few but specific. One reviewer found the calamari incredibly stringy and would not recommend it, and another waited longer than they liked for desserts and the bill as lunch got busy near 1pm. Several diners praise how the staff looked after a vegan guest, and one dairy-free reviewer found them accommodating and informative.

“Incredibly authentic Spanish Tapas with a real home-made vibe. All the favourites you want to see and some other more interesting selections too. The Greek-style flatbreads made for a nice change to the usual bruschetta (though they offer that too). Food was all cooked to perfection and came promptly, especially considering how busy it was (7:30pm on a Saturday). Staff friendly and attentive. Would not hesitate to go back here.”

“Absolutely fantastic. We had a range of tapas dishes, every single one was delicious. Our server (Karol?) was brilliant, very knowledgeable and did what he could to make the experience memorable. First bite and we said it was the best food we had eaten in a long time. I am dairy free and they were very accommodating and informative! Will be back 100% and recommending to anybody. 5/5 all round.”

“Tried the 5 plates for £35, plus a couple of extras. Everything was delicious and flavourful, personal highlights were the arancini balls and mushrooms with Gorgonzola. The attentive service and cosy cellar atmosphere were the cherry on the cake. The amaretto sour was also fantastic, and at 2 for £15, you can’t complain! Only negative was the calamari was incredibly stringy, so would not recommend.”
