Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often single out the fish and chips, with the cod and its light, crispy batter and the traditional chips described as excellent. Portions get repeated praise, including a generous small cod and a battered sausage alongside. Close behind is the friendly, fresh-cooked feel of a family run shop, and one reviewer notes the menu stretches beyond fish and chips, with steak pie, saveloy, fishcake and cheeseburger all tried in one family order and called very fresh. One reviewer liked the curry sauce for being thick enough to dip chips in and the food arriving in a cardboard box rather than paper wrap, though the battered sausage was greasier than usual. The clearest complaint comes from a reviewer who preordered three times and says the order was never ready, and who describes flat, wet, oily batter and pale, undercooked chips. Others say their takeaway orders were ready on time, and one traveller drives from another village because nothing nearby compares.

“Lovely family run fish and chips shop. Chips there are excellent, traditional chips at their finest. We also had a small cod and battered sausage. The portion size were generous even for a small! Batter on the cod was fantastic too.”

“awful, gave them the benefit of the doubt twice, third time and I’m done with this plaice! preordered and whenever I have arrived its never ready, what is the point of preordering they are slow beyond belief? overall the food is terrible, the batter is flat, wet, oily and tasteless. the oil seeps out if the batter when you cut with knife. the chips were anemic, favour-less, not crisp and undercooked. the cost is very high for a terrible product. go elsewhere”

“Use it or lose it East Horsley. I used for the first time tonight. Cod and chips, cooked fresh. Great quality, great quantity and great price. I gave it 5 star for atmosphere because you don't go to fish and chip shop for atmosphere, but service was first class.”
