Customer Review Summary
Friendly staff and owners come up in most reviews, with diners describing a warm welcome at the counter and food that arrives quickly. Breakfast is the main draw on the plate, and one reviewer singles out the black pudding, cooked well and served hot. Thursday bike night and the bike and brew passport scheme bring in motorcyclists, and one reviewer calls it a great biker gathering spot. Others praise the delicious food and good value, and sitting outside with a pot of tea to watch the world go by. The complaints are few but specific. One reviewer found the machine made coffee fairly basic for the cost and mentions a queue, and another said the cake was dryer than the Sahara, though the coffee was decent. One reviewer calls the vanilla shake with an espresso shot to die for.

“Had a fantastic time stopping by for breakfast today. Everything was cooked perfectly and served hot. The black pudding was a real highlight, but you truly cannot beat a proper, hearty breakfast to start the day. I really enjoyed sitting outside with my tea while taking in the fresh air and the view. Everything tasted fresh and hit the spot. I will definitely be back.”

“Busy, and there’s often a queue, which says a lot about how popular it is. We went stopped and just had a coffee. The coffee itself was nice, although at £7.50 for 2 coffees I did feel it was quite expensive for a fairly basic machine made coffee. That said, the service was good. The counter staff were incredibly friendly, welcoming pleasant, which really made the visit enjoyable. We sat outside and it was lovely to just relax, have a chat and watch the world go by. It’s clearly a popular spot for a reason, and despite finding the cafe a pricey, I’d happily visit again for the atmosphere and lovely service.”

“A group of us went on or motorbike on a Northern tour. We stopped at Castle Cafe, and that was a great shout. The food was delicious, service was excellent and the hospitality was great. We get greated by the owner and his wife. The young lady (Elly) who served us was brilliant. A proper northern lass.. Will definitely visit again and recommend to family & friends...”
