Customer Review Summary
Fish and chips draw the most praise, with reviewers pointing to fish cooked in beef dripping, home made tartare sauce, marrowfat mushy peas and a gravy one diner called the best ever. Close behind are the seafood dishes: king scallops, moules mariniere with samphire, razor clams on sourdough, a lobster and seafood pie, and a Lotus Biscoff cheesecake. The sea and harbour view and friendly service come up repeatedly. The caveats are specific. One diner found the garlic and cream sauce on the mussels overwhelmingly salty and the scallops light on garlic, while another found no prawns in the fish pie. Others called the garden peas firm, the new potatoes unseasoned, and the chips less tasty than elsewhere. One reviewer called the room very loud, and a few call it expensive for what arrives, though another says prices are still reasonable. One reviewer suggests booking in advance. The small haddock, which looked bigger than the medium to one diner, is a small detail that sticks.

“Really nice and polite staff, very courteous. Excellent food and they accomodated us as we had a dog too. My only little gripe was the fish pie stated it had prawns in it but i didnt find one. In fairness when we were asked if all was ok, my wife answered. I mentioned it when paying the bill and was told that he would speak to the kitchen and for me to wait. So with that in mind i said no mither but put prawns in next time ! Not a complaint as i didn't want to give the fish pie back. It was delicious and well presented. The fish and chips were excellent too. Fish pie with garden peas, 2 cod and chips, 1 mushy peas, 1 curry sauce, bottle of Italian Pinot and a fresh orange was £102.”

“Wow the very best Fish & Chips I've had in years. So nice that the accompanying tartare sauce was home made you really can tell the difference along with mushy peas made from marrowfat peas, again the taste is so different. The fish was so fresh and perfect chipped potatoes. I would revisit and recommend. A little more than you would pay for a much less quality elsewhere. We had a small wait for a table but only down to the size of our party that was eating. I would recommend booking in advance, don't miss this Whitby experience!”

“🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Delicious food, the Oyster tasted so fresh and lovely, the Mussel was creamy and tender, the Cod fish was crispy, and the Chips were the best chips ever, very soft inside but crispy on the outside. The homemade Lotus Bischoff Cheesecake was served with sauce and ice cream, it’s the perfect dessert after the meal. The service was friendly and welcoming, all the staff were lovely and polite. The interior design was spacious and elegant, every furniture and decoration was so cute and beautiful, the window view next to the harbour was a bonus. Great location right next to the beach. This place deserves to be award winning and worth the price, love the restaurant’s name too. It was amazing dining experience and definitely recommend to anyone and wish to come back in the future. 💕 Must visit this restaurant if you come to Whitby 🥰”

“Tried the Lobster and Seafood Pie along with hot chocolate from Fisherman’s Wife, Whitby, and it was a real treat. The flavours were beautifully balanced, with fresh seafood and a deliciously rich filling that made every bite enjoyable. A comforting and satisfying dish that was both flavourful and delicious. Definitely worth trying if you’re a seafood lover!”

“Authentic, beef dripping, delicious harrod and fish, and shrimps and chips, with a magnificent sea view in cosy little Withby. The ultimate luxury experience of fish and chips (at still reasonable prices).”
