About Giggling Squid - Weybridge
Giggling Squid is a Thai restaurant at 43-45 Church St in Weybridge, built around dishes meant for sharing at the table. Lunch centres on the Thai Tapas Sets, which put several small plates on one order, and lunch platters are offered as well. The menu also covers classic Thai curries and spicy stir fries, with duck spring rolls among the starters. A list of Thai-inspired cocktails and a Thai rose wine sit alongside the food. Botanical interiors decorate the dining room. The drunken noodles carry a two-chilli warning on the menu.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often praise the flavour and freshness of the food, singling out the satay chicken, spring rolls and crispy chicken, and one regular loves the lunch platters. Close behind is friendly service, with two diners describing a patient waiter who gave good menu recommendations, and one calling the Thai rose wine very drinkable. Some praise the interior and atmosphere, though another diner found little atmosphere. The complaints centre on consistency. One reviewer said the crispy squid was mostly fried flour and the duck spring rolls held almost no duck, and another could not finish the drunken noodles because they were too fiery. Slow drinks come up more than once, and one table received no drinks menu, uneven cutlery and had to ask three times for water. A couple felt the food did not justify its price. Another felt rushed at the end of the meal, when the bill arrived without being requested.

“We love the lunch platters at the giggling squid, the stars are always friendly and go above and beyond with the service. We used to love the fish dish on the previous menu (crispy squid, sea bass Prawns) and wish they would bring it back as it would make us return for dinner :-)”

“I had a really lovely experience at this restaurant! The food was really good and everything tasted fresh and delicious. The service was also great, which made the whole experience even better. Our waiter, Emaan, was extremely lovely and patient with us throughout our visit. Overall, we had a great time and I would definitely recommend this restaurant!”

“We had a lovely meal at Giggling Squid in Weybridge. The food was beautifully presented, full of flavour and cooked to perfection. The satay chicken, spring rolls, crispy chicken and beef dish were all excellent, and the portions were generous. The restaurant has a lovely atmosphere, the staff were friendly and attentive, and nothing felt rushed. Overall, it was a great dining experience and we’ll definitely be back. Highly recommend if you’re looking for delicious Thai food in Weybridge.”

“I have eaten at this restaurant before and the food was very good, which is why this visit was particularly disappointing. I ordered the crispy squid, but there was barely any squid inside. It mostly seemed to be fried, crispy flour. I also ordered the duck spring rolls, but they seemed to contain only onion and vegetable and almost no duck. The curry did not taste fresh either. In particular, the carrots and potatoes had an unpleasant smell and seemed as though they had been sitting for a long time. Unfortunately, I felt unwell after eating the food. Based on my previous experience, I expected much better quality and freshness. I hope the restaurant looks into this and improves its food preparation and quality control.”

“Overall, it was okay. The food was expensive, which ordinarily would be fine, except it wasn't exceptional quality. It was edible and tasted nice, it just didn't feel like the quality fully matched the price. We were served by two people at the same time, one young lady who was obviously training, and an older lady who clearly wanted the trainee to get on with it as she didn't give her time to ask us anything and spoke over her. She seemed rushed, even though the place was barely a fifth full when we ordered our food. The people bringing out the food looked like they were suffering from PTSD, so we assumed the kitchen was stressed about something. There was a fair bit of fumbling as plates were put on the table. Maybe they were trainees as well. Sadly, there was little to no atmosphere, which is a real shame. One good thing: we were not rushed out the door.”
