About Corn Store
Corn Store is a restaurant on Church St in Welshpool, built around a three-course menu of starters, mains and desserts. Mains come with a shared bowl of chips and vegetables for the table, so the whole table shares the same sides. The menu runs from goulash and tagine to hoisin duck served with chips. It also includes fish dishes alongside the meat mains. Seating is split between a downstairs floor and an upstairs floor, so the dining room works across two levels.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often point to the generous portions, with mains arriving alongside a bowl of chips and vegetables and many saying they could not finish all three courses. Shredded beef starters draw the warmest praise, and diners also name goulash, tagine, steak with blue cheese sauce, hoisin duck, baked cod and a seafood platter as tasty. Staff are repeatedly called lovely, and the upstairs seating is described as a quieter option when the downstairs gets loud. Several note the place is often packed, and one suggests booking. Desserts draw mixed reactions: one table found a boozy trifle short on booze, heavy on sponge and topped with too much cream, and another found a tart buried under thick cream. The harshest review found the chicken linguine and pork steak too salty and sauce-covered, with a small sparkling water priced as a joke. One reviewer found the tikka flat bread did not taste like tikka. A takeaway two-course order for a hen party arrived wrapped and packed efficiently and was collected on time.

“We read up on the large portions beforehand, so when we came in to get food after a day of hiking, we were ready. Funnily enough, we probably ended up getting some of the smaller dishes on offer, but they still filled us up very well (seafood platter and baked cod), both very tasty. We even had room for dessert, which shouldn’t be missed if you can help it! A lovely place which we will come back to if we’re in the area again. The staff member who took orders on ground floor was lovely to chat to, and made the experience all the better. Very much recommended!”

“As a couple in our thirties, we found this a lovely place to stop for lunch. Clean and decorated nicely. The food was tasty, at reasonable prices and were good portions. The menu was perfect, with lots of variety where we had a soup of the day and hoisin duck with chips. There were also people in there just having social catch ups over drinks too. Service was friendly, attentive enough and efficient. There is seating both down and upstairs. I’m not sure if WiFi is available as we didn’t check.”

“We had a lovely takeaway two course meal for my friend's hen party on Friday evening. The food was amazing, as always. Everything had been wrapped and packed efficiently so it didn't matter that it was a takeaway. It was easy to sort and we collected it on time. We had a great evening with some great food. Thanks to everyone at the Cornstore for making this a special occasion!”

“The food is always amazing, the only problem ever is how much you get. Do not have to much for the rest of the day as you will want all three courses and they always generous. Staff loverly and the place looks great, often packed so would advise you to book and can get loud down stairs but for those wanting quieter time the upstairs ideal.”
