Quick info
About Toby Carvery Washington
Toby Carvery Washington is a carvery on Emerson Rd in Washington, Tyne & Wear, with an all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet alongside its roast meals. Diners go up to the deck, where a carver serves the meat and asks whether they want a "king size" portion. The Yorkshire puddings are big, and the sides include cauliflower cheese and mashed potato. Tables are spaced so parties are not sat on top of each other. Dogs are welcome, so owners can bring their pets along. An on-site hotel with its own Cast Iron Grill restaurant lets guests stay beside the carvery.

Customer Review Summary
Diners most often single out the carvery itself, with tender meat, big Yorkshire puddings and soft mash potato getting repeated praise. One visitor from out of town noted the cauliflower cheese was actually cooked, and another said the carver offered a king size portion to save repeat trips to the deck. Close behind is the staff, described as friendly, helpful and unhurried, with servers who chat with kids, remember regulars and take them to a preferred table. A few mention free refills on Pepsi max and good value, and one praises a cheap carvery deal on its first day. Spacious tables made a busy lunch feel relaxing for one reviewer. The main complaint comes from a breakfast visitor who found every table in the seating area covered in dirty dishes and old food, had to wipe their own table, and saw the plates still there almost an hour later. One reviewer also says not everyone will like the mash made with butter. Several regulars close on the same detail: staff who already know their order and table.

“Food is very tasty and big Yorkshire puddings. This has got to be the best carvery around here. Donna, our server was so friendly,as were all the staff, and she was very attentive with nothing being a bother to her. Scrappy, the chef was so jolly and friendly with everyone. Dispite it being very busy here at the Toby it was a lovely and relaxing afternoon while we were there and the tables were spacious so you didn’t feel as if you were sat on top of one another. The only downside is that not everyone likes their mashed potato’s in butter but still a 10/10”

“We went on the first day of the £7 carvery deal and the food was outstanding, the meat was very soft, the mash potato the same. Everything seemed fresh. Had a tremendous host in Faith, who seemed to have incredible people skills. Although she was busy, she would have actual conversations which is refreshing.”

“Lovely place to come for Saturday lunch. Staff are wonderful. Kelly, the hostess, always recognises us and takes us to our preferred table. Karen, our regular server, is always friendly and no longer needs to ask for our order. We come here every week and are never disappointed”

“We were greeted at the door by a lovely Samuel who showed us to our table, we then had our drinks order taken by faith and she took her time speaking with the kids and making them laugh. Russel was our carver and he asked if we wanted king size which is a great ask if you don’t want to go up multiple times to the deck! Mia was on the bat and attended us when we wanted more drinks and straws etc, she had a lovely conversation with us about my brothers birthday which made his day! Liv was our server and she attended us politely asking if we wanted anything else which is great after a dinner!”
