About Korat Thai Upminster

Korat Thai Upminster is a Thai restaurant in Upminster, at 32 Corbets Tey Rd. Lunch brings the Koh Samui prosecco brunch, a set menu that gives a midday meal a fixed format with prosecco. The regular lunch menu is smaller than the dinner menu. A shared starter platter pairs chicken satay sticks, sticky spare ribs, prawn tempura and spring rolls with a satay dipping sauce. Among the mains, the Duck Red Curry sits beside other curries, including chicken Panang, and a prawn pad Thai. Cocktails and a wine list are available for the table. Pink orchids sit on the tables, and the menus come in hard covers.

Customer Review Summary

Reviewers most often single out the curries and the shared starter platter, with the drunken duck, the Duck Red Curry and the chicken Panang curry named for their flavour. One describes the red curry's palm sugar balance as spot on, another calls the drunken duck spicy and fragrant with kaffir lime. The starter platter of chicken satay, sticky spare ribs, prawn tempura and spring rolls is called generous, and the satay dipping sauce gets its own praise. Prawn pad thai and plain pad thai are also liked, and the cocktails come up repeatedly, including the Thai signature and a strawberry daiquiri. Several mention the Prosecco set menu or brunch and describe the place as clean, with friendly staff. The main caveats are small. One reviewer was offered drinks by three different servers within about five minutes, and another found the restaurant nearly empty at Sunday lunchtime on most visits. One reviewer also warns of a no baby policy unless the child is big enough for a high chair, and suggests checking first.

“Beautiful restaurant, servers were very attentive (maybe a little too attentive at times! Offered drinks by 3 different servers within about 5mins) but was still enjoyable. Food was lovely, the starter platter was delicious. Prawn pad thai for mains for lovely too, lots of flavour and was piping hot you can tell it was freshly prepared. Lastly quite possibly the best strawberry daiquiri ive had in a while! Will definitely be back😊”

“Food was fresh and had lots of flavour. I would recommend! Pad Thai was very nice!”

“Had lunch here last Sunday, party of 3. Tried their Prosecco set menu and food was excellent. Service fantastic. 4th visit here in 12 months and food always good. Only downside is we were the only people there at 2pm and on 3 of our 4 visits to the restaurant there has been minimal people there. Our last visit on a Thursday evening was packed and we got the last table. It does not put us off but maybe would do for some. Spotlessly clean. Will always come back. Thank you.”

“I visited here today and had the Koh Samui prosecco brunch accompanied with an amazing cocktail "Thai signature" The decor was beautiful, clean and modern. Nice hard cover menus, pink orchids on the table, and happy customers around to create a great atmosphere The chicken Panang curry was spicy and packed a lot of flavour, but the drunken duck was amazing! Spicy and fragrant with the kaffir lime really being the dominant flavour. 10/10 and will definitely be back”

“"Took my wife on a lunch date to Korat Thai and I was pleasantly surprised by how great the food was. It reminded me of my holidays in Thailand (Bangkok) — this is genuinely authentic Thai food. Every dish was a 10/10, the service was attentive without being intrusive, and the staff clearly paid close attention to detail. The atmosphere was lovely too — my wife couldn't stop taking pictures! We'll definitely be back, if only for the coconut water."”
