Customer Review Summary
Breakfast draws the most praise, led by the full Scottish Breakfast with thick slices of black pudding and haggis, great-flavoured bacon, fluffy scrambled eggs and a crispy tattie scone. Close behind are the mixed grill, which one reviewer could not finish, the macaroni and cheese, and the weekend roast, called the best in the area. Others mention a savoury French toast from the daily specials and an unusual dish of salt and pepper fries with chicken in a sticky toffee sauce and tablet. Reviewers describe generous portions, fair prices, an extensive menu and friendly staff, with kids' portions also noted as generous. The caveats are small but specific: one found the toast pale and dry, and another had tea and coffee arrive well before the food and go cold. One longtime visitor was disappointed that small plates are gone, calling the beef tacos tasteless and the pasta greasy and in need of salt. Several diners praise the neon sign reading "good food good mood".

“First time visit while working in the area, really nicely decorated with actual dining tables 😂 I had the mixed grill which was excellent and also beat me as I couldn’t finish it a little jem in Turrif with friendly staff”

“This used to be one of our favourite places to go. They have stopped doing small plates sorry you can have starters but not the variety. Starters beef tacos were tasteless The pasta was greasy and pretty tasteless had to put salt on it so I could taste anything. The macaroni tastes floury and greasy The lady with the curly hair was very abrupt but the younger girls were lovely. It was our anniversary spent £200 and won’t be back.”

“Fantastic food, the weekend roast is the best in the Shire, and definitely worth travelling from the city for! The atmosphere is great, really cosy and comfy. Service is top notch, plenty of friendly and helpful staff on at the weekends. We can't wait to come back!”

“A friendly grill with an extensive menu-great for groups. Food portions are generous and the prices fair. I loved the neon sign “good food good mood”! It’s a cheerful place - good for drinks or serious eating.”

“Enjoyed our breakfast here today. I tried the savoury French toast from the daily specials which was excellent. My wife had bacon and pancakes, again delicious with great quality bacon. Both portions were really generous. Service is friendly and attentive. Prices are very reasonable for the quality of the food served. Only minor point was that our tea and coffee were served up some time before the food was served so our drinks were cold by then. Maybe worth checking if customers want their drinks served with the meal. Would definitely come here again! Thanks”
