About Box Hill Cafe
Box Hill Cafe is a cafe in Tadworth at the top of Box Hill, on The Old Fort, Box Hill Road, where the hiking trails begin. A National Trust hut, shop and secondhand bookshop stand beside it, so the cafe makes a natural stop for anyone heading out on or coming back from the trails. Coffee is served with coffee art, and the food runs to sausage rolls, bacon rolls and cream teas, with cake and ice cream also on sale. Dogs are welcome, which matters for walkers who bring a pet along. Benches are set out nearby, and several bins are provided for sorting different types of rubbish. Hot drinks come in reusable, washable cups.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often come for the coffee, praised as proper coffee with latte art and called a game-changer by a hiker partway down a trail. Close behind are the food and snacks: cream teas described as excellent quality, sausage rolls, a nice bacon roll, and good ice creams. Staff are repeatedly called friendly and helpful, with one reviewer describing a team that fetched a stock item they had run out of, checked nutritional info for a vegan friend, and looked after a lost phone. The setting draws praise too, with benches, indoor and outdoor seating, and a reusable cup scheme. The main caveats are prices, which a few call on the high side or typical, and crowds, with long queues and a jammed car park in nice weather. One reviewer wished the cafe served bacon rolls, though another praises its bacon roll. One three-star review describes a server as rude after she stood between a parent and a toddler and stared into their pram. Several reviewers describe it as a regular halfway stop on weekly bike rides, and one praises the spotless toilets.

“Always a pleasant stop for coffee and cake/sausage roll. Very busy outside and car park jammed but the cafe quite peaceful. I just wish they did bacon rolls.”

“Good food. Service is ok. A server were rude. Management should educate their staff in how to to talk to people specifically be respectful to them. A lady who worked there came in and started staring into our parm as if we had stolen something and stood between me and my 28 month old daughter and I could've lost sight of her. Then she made an excuse of looking how ould our baby was when clearly there was a cup(which i assume she thought belonged to the the cafe) but it was our on personal cup. Either it was invading our private space and could've been scary for our daughter as some rand person came close to us for no reason as all. Please Management educate your staff on how to respectful approaches and treat your customers.”
