Customer Review Summary
Steak is what reviewers come back for, with a 20oz T-bone that melted in the mouth, a ribeye and a Chateaubriand each described as among the best they have eaten. Close behind are the starters, including steak nuggets, a haggis starter and beer battered smoked brisket nuggets, plus the Beef Wellington one diner recommends. Puddings also draw praise, notably a homemade jam rolly poly and a creme brulee. Several point to the early bird menu as great value, and the atmosphere is called warm and welcoming, with a pub's feel and a restaurant's relaxed pace. Staff are generally described as friendly, though one reviewer found a single team member standoffish. The recurring caveat is cost. One diner reserves it for special occasions, and another who travelled found a shared 32oz T-bone arrived rare when medium was requested, then came back black after being recooked, though the sides and sauces were fantastic. Another reviewer notes that staff replenished their chips and veg.

“Heard they had good steak but the whole experience was good only gripe I had was all the staff were cheerful apart from one who seemed a bit standoffish but didn't really spoil the night”

“Kinda dissapointing :/ We travelled from Sheffield, expecting something quite spectacular and hinestly it was good but not out of this world like the reviews say. We had to wait 10 minutes for our booked table. The starters were great, we had the beer battered smoked brisket nuggets and the belly pork. Both were tasty and well presented. Nice to have warm (i assume fresh baked) bread for the table. For mains we shared the 32oz T bone steak. We asked for medium. It was rare. If it came medium rare, it'd habe been ok, but it really was rare. My partner which likes things medium rare even said it was too rare for him. We asked for it to be cooked a bit more and it came out charcoal :( would have expected it to be chucked in the oven for a few more minutes just to get the steak to the right cook but it obviously thrown back on the fire as it truly was black when it came out. We didnt want a new steak because wed already cut it up but we were just really sad that no care seemed to have been taken to get it right. The sides were fantastic though. The sauces as well. Really good flavours. Just a bit dissapointing for how much everything costs. For the same price we could have gone to Miller & Carter twice, and had a better steak.”
