Customer Review Summary
Samuel Smiths bitter draws the most praise at this Tadcaster pub, described as a very good pint and really good bitter, with one visiting beer fan calling it extremely delicious. A Taddy Lager gets a mention alongside it, and several reviewers describe a quaint little pub with friendly staff, a landlord one calls a top guy, and a nice beer garden that looks kept clean. Two visitors from outside the area say they surprised a few regulars, then enjoyed good conversation, with one hearing local talk about the brewery and pub ownership. The recurring complaint is the no mobile phones rule. One walker was told to put the phone away while logging an Ebor Way route, set the pint back on the bar and left, and another waited outside with no cover from the rain, though a third reviewer counts the lack of digital distractions as a plus. One diner found the service not very friendly after asking for a towel for a wet seat, and reported both drinks flat.

“Old style Sam Smiths pub. Called in for a pint after walking a section of the Ebor Way, sat in a quiet corner, got phone out to save my walking route and was told I couldn't use a phone there. I told them I was simply logging the route but no - no phones allowed Put my pint back on the bar and walked out.”
