  “Remember first of all that it is cash only at this take away. I didn't find the food particularly enticing. The crispy shredded beef was soft and chewy and the chips were so dry and tasteless. The chips must have been refried or something. Sorry to say the satay chicken was full of onion and crunchy green peppers and personally tasted bland with little satay taste. Regrettably in addition, the person who served us had little interest as us as customers and a smile wouldn't go amiss. We did spend £34 after all. I'm afraid we'll stick to the Indian takeaway next time.”

  “We've been going to Lotus House for about a year but last night the food tasted really weird, like chemicals. It was really disgusting. We couldn't finish the rest of the meal and we were expecting to wake in the night with bad stomachs. We'll be giving this one a miss for now. It's normally very good, but it was an expensive mistake this time.”

  “Unfortunately we won’t be ordering from here again. The chicken was undercooked and really put us off the rest of the meal. Just to note you can only pay by cash here too. A waste of £30 meal and won’t be returning.”

  “Ordered from Lotus House as our normal takeaway was closed, we read the reviews for Lotus House and were really excited to try the food however we were very disappointed. Everything we ordered lacked flavour completely, absolutely nothing on our normal Chinese takeaway. The portions were big but I think the portion size is fair enough for the price. The lack of flavour was our main issue. Also a bit annoying that it’s cash only. We won’t be ordering from here again. Maybe it was just a one off considering all the amazing reviews however the meal we had is enough to confirm to us that we won’t be trying this takeaway again.”

  “We placed a takeaway order by telephone at opening time and were advised that the order would be ready within 15 minutes. We ordered a variety of dishes at a cost of just over £36.00. After sampling all of the dishes we were extremely disappointed with the quality of the food. The barbecued ribs with lemon were so overcooked they were impossible to chew. The vegetable rolls were crispy on the outside but under-cooked and slimy on the inside and totally lacked any flavour. The quarter crispy aromatic duck was a box of greasy batter bits with a few token shards of dry duck meat. The black bean sauce covering the beef with green peppers was gloopy and unappetising although the beef was tender. The Cantonese sweet and sour chicken was dry but edible but the star of the show was the vegetable samosas which were delicious. Some of the food had the appearance and texture that suggested it had been pre-cooked and left standing for a very long time so maybe it was not a good idea to order immediately after they opened. We have ordered from Lotus House many times and always been happy with the food but on this occasion the quality fell short. Definitely a very costly one star experience on this occasion.”

  “This is a Chinese take away. We ordered 5 main dishes plus rice and the food was ready for collection at the alloted time and it was excellent. Just beware they only accept cash. They kindly added a few treats for us too. I recommend this take away.”

  “Great menu, can deliver. Food is always great and the menu is huge. Phone ahead if collecting in person as these guys can get busy - testament to how popular Lotus house is in the area. Overall a reliable and consistently excellent Chinese takeaway!”
