Quick info
About Milton Chippy (Gluten free & Vegan 7days)
Milton Chippy is a fish and chips takeaway in Stoke On Trent, on Leek Rd, and it opens daily. A separate vegan menu is cooked to order in its own fryer, which keeps those dishes apart from the rest of the kitchen. It includes a vegan burger and a vegan battered sausage. The gluten-free menu covers fish and chips, so coeliac diners can order the main dish rather than a side. Onion rings come with curry sauce, and the dessert list runs to donuts and cake. Orders can be placed ahead through the website. There is no seating inside, and customers who eat nearby use the grassy verge across the road.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers come to Milton Chippy above all for gluten free fish and chips, with several travelling from across Stoke, Newcastle and Leek, or driving after a day at Alton Towers, because coeliac-safe options are hard to find. The fish gets the most praise, with a crispy, light batter that is not greasy. Close behind are the huge, craggy onion rings dipped in curry sauce, plus mozzarella sticks that were a hit with the kids. Vegan diners single out the vegan burger, vegan chips and vegan battered sausage, and a few mention desserts, including a donut a daughter loved. The staff are repeatedly called friendly and knowledgeable, and a parent of a newly diagnosed coeliac child says the team kept them updated. The one trade-off is that vegan orders use a separate fryer and are cooked to order, so one reviewer waited a little while. Several mention a queue at the door, and there is no seating, so one family ate on the grassy verge opposite.

“When planning our Staffordshire holiday, we drove 35 minutes after a full day at Alton Towers especially to find coeliac-safe gluten-free fish and chips. It was absolutely worth the trip! The fish and chips were fantastic — crispy, flavourful batter that was light rather than greasy. The huge, craggy onion rings were delicious, especially dipped in the curry sauce. The mozzarella sticks were not something we would normally order with fish and chips, but they were a real hit with the kids. We also tried a selection of desserts, and everything was delicious. The staff were friendly, and everything was freshly cooked. There’s no seating, so we enjoyed our meal al fresco on the grassy verge opposite, which was actually a lovely way to finish the day. A brilliant gluten-free find and well worth the drive!”

“Another customer who traveled to Milton Chippy from the other end of Stoke (Newcastle, to be exact!). There's sadly no vegan friendly traditional chip shop options (that I'm aware of) in Stoke on Trent and Newcastle - so finding this place was stumbling across a goldmine. I was a little unsure on parking in the area, so I messaged the team via Instagram - the response was friendly and prompt, and I was assured I could park over the road, which took a lot of the stress out of collecting my order - If there's anyone with any apprehensions over getting there and getting parked up, it's honestly no hassles at all :) It says it all when you turn up at opening time and there's already a queue of people - and I can completely understand why. I have to give a shout out to the staff, hands down the nicest and friendliest team. As soon as you walk through the door, it's a warm and friendly welcome that remains throughout your time inside. I pre-ordered my items via the website, with everything ready and fresh for me on arrival. Such a good mix of vegan and non-vegan foods, I tried the vegan burger, the vegan chips and the vegan battered sausage - all were beyond expectations. I have vegan cake left, but I'm so full from sampling everything and from the generous portion sizes that I'll have to save those for tomorrow! Thanks Milton Chippy, today might have been the first time visiting, but it certainly won't be the last!”

“We travelled 20 miles from the other side of Leek to try Milton Chippy because of their Gluten free menu and was not disappointed. The food was delicious, the fish was especially nice, the atmosphere and service were 2nd to none. If you do need a Gluten free option, this is the place to go.”
