About Hawasana Afghan Restaurant
Hawasana Afghan Restaurant sits on Stoke Road in Stoke On Trent, where it runs as an Afghanistan pop-up and food spot. The menu centres on Afghan dishes, with Qabuli pilau served as a large plate of steamed rice layered with vegetables, sultanas, and a leg of lamb at the centre, and other plates are sized to share. The room carries Afghanistan-themed decor, and the staff are attentive and friendly throughout service. All meat is halal, which shapes who the kitchen caters for. Orders are taken at the counter, and the food spot also handles takeaway for those who want to eat elsewhere. The setting is straightforward, focused on the food and the cross-cultural feel of a pop-up rather than a full-service restaurant. Portions lean generous across the menu, so a single plate often covers more than one appetite.

“Great food, large portions. Price is slightly on the higher side but that is totally understandable when you see how much food is being served - for us 4 adults and 5 kids we barely made a dent in the dishes and had to take most of it home lol. Service was attentive and friendly. Only downside is that the phone and internet reception is poor so they could definitely benefit from having public wifi.”

“This was my first time trying Afghan food, and it was so good I ended up having it twice. Sohail was incredibly informative about the area and genuinely friendly, the service was great, and the food was perfect. Haviv was also a pleasure to interact with. Thank you, Sohail and Haviv — hope everything works out well for you both”

“I wanted to try something different and I saw this Afghanistan pop up in the area so thought - let's go for it. Beautiful food - solid prices - decent portions - great value for money. My main dish, the Qabuli pilau, was a large plate of steamed rice, mixed with vegetables and sultanas and in the middle, a large leg of lamb where the meat dropped off the bone. Very succulent and mixed with the side dishes, filled with flavour. The staff were servicing, providing a comfortable atmosphere, and the restaurant had rich Afghanistan themed decor. I'm looking forward to returning and trying something new! My biggest takeaway from this is to just get out there and try these things 😌”
