About The Orange Tree Bar and Grill

The Orange Tree Bar and Grill sits on Newcastle Road in Stoke On Trent and operates as a reservations-only restaurant, with table service and a menu staff walk guests through. The kitchen cooks to order, with the new menu covering grilled dishes including fillet steak alongside the wider bar and grill range. A rewards app ties into the restaurant for regular visitors, and the location roughly halfway between Stockport and another nearby town has made it a workable meeting point for friends travelling in from either direction.

Customer Review Summary

Reviewers are most divided, with several praising the new menu and fillet steak as highlights, while one detailed account describes tough, overcooked mains, a tiny rock-hard sushi roll, a three-and-a-half hour wait, and a £270 bill that ended in disappointment. Most reviewers call the food and service quality, though some note prices sit on the higher side.

“Was welcomed by a lady who showed us to our table..a gentleman was really informative and told us about what was available and about their app to get rewards etc. The food was delicious, well cooked and all freshly cooked. We had a dessert which was also really nice. A bit on the higher side price wise, but you get what you pay for which is nice food and a good atmosphere”

“We had a lovely lunch at this place! Food very good and well plated, friendly staff and great value.”
  • Lena Nixon
“very disappointed! £270 including compulsory service charge did not offer good food or service. Based on previous good experiences of the orange tree, I have invited some important guests for dinner. Inside was so stuffy, no air conditioning or even open doors. Food was expensive but poor quality! Starters were tiny and sushi roll was rock hard. All of our food were over cooked, looks bad and taste burnt, the veggies were served “cremated”. Fish, Lamb chops, steak were all tough and overcooked. We waited for almost 2 hours before mains were served. Drinks and dessert were ok. Sadly this 3& half hour dinner ended with disappointment and embarrassment. Such a shame but will not go again.”

“Really lovely restaurant, meet my friend travelling from Stockport here cos it's half way.”
  • Kyle Brooke
“Really impressed with the new menu at The Orange Tree. It feels fresh, exciting and really refreshing, with plenty of great choices. Special mention to Andy, who was brilliant throughout. Service was quick, friendly and attentive without ever feeling rushed. I had the fillet steak, cooked by Spencer, and it was absolutely perfect. Cooked exactly how I wanted it, really well seasoned and easily one of the highlights of the meal. Great food, great service and a really good atmosphere. Definitely looking forward to coming back and trying more of the new menu.”
