Customer Review Summary
Sandwiches draw the most praise, with one diner calling the chicken chorizo ciabatta the best sandwich they had tasted and another describing the afternoon tea sandwiches as fresh and very tasty. Close behind are poached eggs on bloomer toast with mushrooms, the coleslaw, cakes served alongside prosecco, and a marimba dark hot chocolate described as really good. Staff are called polite, welcoming and friendly, and the pavement seating gets a mention. The main complaint is slow, uneven service. Several describe long waits for coffee and food, a flat white that looked insipid, a toasted teacake that arrived as a small hot cross bun, a children's meal with the wrong side, and a burnt toastie that left the kitchen. One notes a table left uncleared despite few customers, and another was asked for a tip at the card machine after ordering at the desk. Those with disappointing coffees were given replacement drinks, which were just OK.

“A disappointing first visit. As a lone customer I prefer to find a table and wait for someone to take my order once I’ve had a chance to look at the menu, and given that a pleasant waitress seemed to be standing there waiting to do so, I was surprised that I needed to leave my chosen table whilst ordering/paying, in the hope that nobody else would sit at that table….. I can see how this could cause confusion over delivering orders🤷♀️ However, I fully appreciate that with outside seating available, you need to avoid customers doing a runner especially if they are dissatisfied, but would suggest that the order and payment are taken simultaneously at the table or give the customer a table number marker that can be taken to any table. My toasted teacake eventually arrived as a hot cross bun, tasty but obviously small and not worth money. My flat white arrived a good 10 minutes later, in a mug and looking insipid. By this time I had noticed other unhappy customers complaining about the coffee, we all had replacement drinks, which were OK … I hope you find an experienced barista soon 🤞 On a positive note… the cafè looks inviting, the staff were friendly and welcoming! I would certainly return, but will read reviews first next time.”

“Very average experience today. This was my first time visiting, and only for a quick coffee and unfortunately we were unimpressed. We waiting just over 20 minutes for 2 black coffees and bottles of sparkling water. Slightly longer wait for the children's meal to be brought out - with the incorrect side. I noticed the table next to us also had an incorrect food order. They weren't particularly busy just a few customers in and despite this nobody was cleaning tables and even after I asked my table still wasn't cleared. I cleared it myself in the end. Overall I think our visit was very average/poor. I wouldn't return. The wait time alone for 2 black coffees would put me off returning besides the poor service and general negative experience. I'm sure the staff mean well and seemed to be trying their best, they just didn't seem very good at running a cafe.”

“Had a disappointing experience. Frothys no longer do table service which is fine, but after going to the desk to order from a lady who seemed bored and unhappy, she then asked me for a tip on the card machine. I would understand if I had table service, or had a good experience, but they had not done any work until that point. Also be aware the downstairs drains do often smell bad. Had a drink which was nice, do find the bakery items quite plain.”

“Had a lovely time at Frothys! Looked quite expensive from outside menu but the food was worth it and more! Absolutely delicious sandwich bread warm and the chicken chorizo cibatta the best sandwich we'd both ever tasted loved this place. Service was very quick and everyone was so lovely we will definetly be back by far the best cafe I've ever been too!! Also the colesaw was divine just everything 10/10”
