About Cafe Continental
Cafe Continental is a restaurant at 5 Melbourne Street in Stalybridge, where reservations are required. The kitchen runs a separate Saturday menu alongside a Sunday roast dinner, and a grill-led event has been held from the space. Garlic and chilli prawns, lasagne and T-bone steak sit alongside padron peppers and fried chicken, with portion sizes that read as generous on the plate. The room carries a classic European café atmosphere, with decor that holds up as a focal point of the setting, and a back-and-forth that keeps the front of house prompt and personable. Dogs are welcome inside.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often single out the prawns, with several naming them among their favourite dishes alongside the lasagne, short rib, and roast potatoes. Generous portions and personable service draw consistent praise. A recurring complaint is seasoning, especially saltiness in the prawns and lasagne, and one diner found the prawns mushy. Several suggest ordering greens to balance heavier plates.

“Had the garlic and chilli butter prawns at the Live from the grill event in Manchester and they were 10/10. We’re going to come and eat in the restaurant to try the rest of the menu.”

“Ask plenty of questions. Even the "mains" I would suggest thinking about sides and treating as a large sharing plate. Seasoning can be bold”

“Very good, highly recommend, worth travelling for”

“Every dish was above expectations, from the steak tartare to the ox cheek lasagna and the crispy potato galettes. The quality of the ingredients and presentation were excellent, and the restaurant has a lovely interior with a warm, modern atmosphere. The staff were also very friendly and attentive throughout the meal. The only small criticism is that the beef short rib was a little too salty for my taste. Other than that, everything was fantastic and I’d definitely come back. Dog friendly as well!!”
