About The Society Rooms
The Society Rooms is a Wetherspoon pub on Grosvenor St in Stalybridge, open daily. One side of the pub follows the standard Wetherspoon layout. The other is a barn-style room with a high ceiling and an open fire, and tables sit beside the log burner for anyone who wants to stay near it. Breakfast is served until noon, and tea and Lavazza coffee come with free refills all day. Lunch and dinner lean on gourmet burgers and freshly made pizzas, with vegetarian choices and a deli deal alongside. The drinks list covers real ales, craft beers and gins, as well as soft drinks. Fish and chips with garden peas rounds out the main plates.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often come to this Wetherspoon for affordable food, with a generous portion of fish and chips and garden peas, a chicken basket with a mediterranean salad, and a cheap breakfast singled out as good value. Close behind, several praise how quickly food arrives and how easily the app handles orders, with friendly staff. The fantastic beer garden, a table by the log burner on a cold day, and free coffee refills also earn mentions. That popularity has a downside. One reviewer describes crazy busy conditions, long queues while breakfast goes cold, food between hot and warm, and too few drink refill stations. Another says a burger was depressing and compares the chocolate dessert to dog mess, recalling the burger and curry deal as far better in the past. One diner who disliked a meal reports that the manager refused an exchange and took the plate away while chips and onion rings were still uneaten, so they left.

“Crazy busy. Food prices are exceptionally good, hence being so popular and busy. Food again is in between hot and warm. Portion sizes are average. Not enough drink stations for refilling drinks. Queues can be quite long whilst breakfast is getting cold.”

“We visited the pub after a good walk organised by a member of the Catenian walking group I am in. A very pleasant walk in the countryside close by. This is a typical Wetherspoon pub. Good value for money, a generous portion of Fish & Chips, & garden peas, plus a pint of Guinness, all for £9.50.”

“It's wetherspoons it is what it is, food was good as usual, we chose to sit outside at the back as the weather was good, but plenty of seating inside also. Another one ticked off.”

“Used to love it there but I ordered food that was not very nice and I took it back to let them know it was horrible and wanted an exchange and they acted like they were going to comply so I went back to my table. but several minutes later the manager came back to tell me they couldn’t do it because it was a choice to buy that food it’s not their fault it was my first try and I don’t like it. But they should absolutely exchange my food as I’ve just wasted my money and it’s ruined my meal and experience. Even if they are right they still took away the rest of my food so I didn’t even get a chance to eat the rest of it. I still had chips and onion rings I couldnve been getting on with but now I had spent money and didn’t even get to eat much of the food. They told me I’d have to buy another one. But I did not want to buy another one for another £8 ! The first one was already much more than that. It was a waste of money as well as I didn’t have any food. So I left. Coffees nice and I love that they do refills though”

“One of the best witherspoons I have ever been in.It has a lovely frontage, and once you enter there are two ways to to go turn left to a standered type of Witherspoons layout.Turn right to a stunning very high ceiling barn type layout with a builifull open style fire. It also has a very nice out side area. Wonderfull staff super clean tables and wonderful surrounding. The food is served extremely fast and is a delight. The particular Witherspoons is a must to visit. You will not be disappointed.”
