About Rita's Cocktail Bar
Rita's Cocktail Bar sits on Oxford Street in Southampton, running as a cocktail bar with an attached dancefloor area. Drinks are ordered at the bar, and the venue also sets aside a section of the dancefloor for groups that ask to reserve it. The room functions as a walk-in bar, with seating and standing space arranged around the central bar and dance area. Cocktails are the focus of the drinks menu, served alongside the usual mixers and spirits. Opening hours follow an evenings pattern, with the bar catering to a late-night crowd once the dancefloor is in use.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers split sharply: several praise the cocktails, with one calling a margarita the nicest they've had, while others describe flat drinks and repeated closures. Service is called friendly and exceptional by some, though a reviewer says the owner invades personal space, and another was asked to leave the dancefloor mid-visit. The venue draws groups, with a few suggesting rival bars nearby are more welcoming.

“Here is my honest review of Rita’s Southampton. It’s clearly trying very hard to be an upmarket, sophisticated destination, the sort of place that wants you to believe you’ve accidentally wandered into Mayfair, despite being firmly in Southampton. Everything screams “look how successful we are”: the décor, the clientele, the atmosphere and, presumably, the price of the drinks. The room is packed with what the early 2000s might have called “yuppies” people who seem desperate to demonstrate that they’ve made it. Unfortunately, the overall effect is less Wolf of Wall Street and more LinkedIn profile picture with a leased BMW. But let’s get to the reason I’m actually writing this review. We were on the dancefloor when a woman who appeared to be the owner/manager Rita, as told, approached our group explaining that the area had apparently been reserved. Fair enough. We genuinely didn’t know, and mistakes happen and apologies were given. We were then promptly told that we could finish our drinks before leaving. Now, I’ll give credit where it’s due: allowing us to finish our drinks was a nice touch. It was almost as though they recognised that asking paying customers to vacate an area they had been happily using without warning was, perhaps, not the strongest bit of customer service. So, in fairness, Rita’s has achieved something quite impressive: it has managed to create an atmosphere where everyone looks like they’re trying to prove they’re important, while simultaneously making you feel like an inconvenience for having the audacity to actually enjoy yourself. If you’re looking for somewhere that desperately wants to be exclusive, congratulations, you’ve found it. If you’re looking for somewhere that actually makes you feel welcome, I’d probably keep walking”

“If there's too many guys they kick you out for no reason, beers are also flat, don't bother, go across the road, far more friendly”

“The nicest margarita ever, friendly staff and a great atmosphere”

“Well I'd like to give this place a good review, but having managed only twice to get a cocktail there, I've given up. Half the time it's supposed to be open but it's actually closed, then today I waited for ten minutes at the bar with nobody there serving, so I gave up and went elsewhere.”
