Quick info
About Dark Arts Potion Bar
Dark Arts Potion Bar is a themed cocktail bar on High Street in Southampton built around a magic-inspired concept, with potion-making classes and a Potions and Peril escape room running alongside the drinks service. The bar serves a creative cocktail list of original, character-driven drinks such as Memento Mori, presented in themed glassware with fog effects and accompanied by hidden puzzles built into the room for guests to find, plus puzzle boxes to work on between rounds. The potion-making classes are offered as a separate session, and the escape room gives the venue a second activity beyond the bar itself. Dogs are welcome inside, and the space doubles as a small events format for group bookings alongside its regular cocktail service.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers consistently single out the creative cocktails, calling them the best they've had, and several name "Memento Mori" and the unique glassware as standouts. The magic-themed decor and immersive atmosphere draw repeated praise, and visitors describe the cocktail-making class and escape room puzzles as fun add-ons. Service earns strong mentions, though one reviewer calls the bar awful and recommends against it. Two note the spot books up quickly.

“Had an amazing time at The Dark Arts, the escape room was fantastic and we had a great game master (whose name I sadly cant’t remember) and we managed to complete it with 2 minutes to spare! We did Potions and Peril and it was a lot of fun, the puzzles were a good amount of challenge without being too difficult and we only needed hints a couple times, would highly recommend! We also did the potion brewing class which was fun too, Malachi was a great instructor and he had a fun charismatic personality, he seemed like he really loves what he does and he’s good at it too! The cocktails are amazing, and the presentation is fantastic, 10/10, I especially loved all the unique shaped glasses and the fog effects (my personal favourite was the Memento Mori) The general atmosphere is great with its themed decor and there’s even hidden puzzles within the bar which are fun to figure out. Overall a fantastic place to go for a fun afternoon/evening of puzzles and drinks!”
