  “Wow what can I say. Of all the years visiting Skegness I've never come across a fine dining experience until yesterday! We spent a while googling and checking trip advisor and discovered San Rufo's only 4 minutes away from where we were staying so thought it worth a shot. From entering we were greeted with a smile and shown to our table. Service was quick and we ordered a mammoth 1 litre bottle of house wine for just £25! What a bargain and it was surprisingly very nice! Much better than the horrible jack rabbit 11% stuff you get in most places. 13% and paired beautifully with the food. We took a while to decide what to order as we kept seeing food coming out to other customers and EVERYTHING looked absolutely incredible. The menu is generous and covers everything Italian you can think of. We were awkward to order for a fussy child but the staff were extremely accommodating. We had the pepperoni pizza, meatball pasta, and I had the special prawn and scallop ravioli. The pizza was delicious, perfect dough and bursting with flavour. The meat balls were also delicious and great portion, then my ravioli... Oh my goodness I actually got emotional as it was just so good. Home made pasta with generous fillings, fresh mussels and beautiful giant prawns. Sauce at the bottom of the plate was incredible. The whole plate was one of the best meals of my life and it'll be one I never forget. The rest of my family didn't finish their meals so I was lucky enough to finish a bit of both of theirs and everything was just perfect. Definitely check the specials board as the ravioli wasn't on the main menu. We met who we think was the owner and she was such a lovely lady, genuinely Italian and gave us a complimentary lemoncello. What a wonderful touch. We tipped and left perfectly satisfied. If booking try to get the terrace at the back as the ambience is wonderful. I wish I took more pictures but I was too excited about the food! Finally a restaurant in Skegness worth visiting. A well deserved trip advisor travellers choice award but honestly deserve to be in the Michellin guide for the exceptional quality of food. We'll certainly be back!”

  “We had a fantastic experience this evening. We came as a walk-in on what was clearly a very busy night, and although we probably should have made a booking, the staff still managed to find us a great table for two. The service was excellent from start to finish. We didn't have to wait long for our food, and every dish was absolutely outstanding fresh, full of flavour, and perfectly cooked. The staff were friendly, welcoming, and attentive throughout. Thank you for making us feel so welcome despite how busy you were. We will definitely be back and would highly recommend this restaurant!”

  “I am absolutely disgusted with my takeaway order from this supposedly 4.6-star restaurant. When I opened the pizza, there were small black hairs all over the base. There were also hairs found in the chicken Vesuvio as well. This is completely unacceptable. For a place with this rating, I expect basic hygiene standards to be taken seriously. I will not be ordering here again, but I do have to give credit that when I called, they did give me a full refund.”

  “Came here a long time ago and the food still very good the lasagna probably one of the best, the service was excellent and the restaurant very busy on a Friday night i would definitely book in advance, it was well worth the long drive to celebrate our anniversary in a proper Italian restaurant i hope to return a lot sooner”

  “Whilst on a short break on the East coast, we Googled “nice Italian restaurants near me” and San Rufo’s came up in the results. Now, none of the results had higher than a 4.6 rating out of 5, so we didn’t hold out too much hope. The restaurant itself looks ok and it is located on the outskirts of Skegness (Skegvegas). The service was good and the staff were pleasant, but that is where the compliments end. We had a 15 minute wait for the table, so we decided to have a couple of cocktails while we waited. It’s safe to say that the bar lady clearly hadn’t made cocktails before and the Martini espresso and peach Bellini went unfinished! I opted for a penne chicken and mushroom in a tomato sauce and my better half had the seafood spaghetti. The mussels were fresh in her spaghetti but the giant prawn was odd and the calamari was like rubber. Mt penne was unseasoned and dull. I had to add copious amounts of salt, pepper and Parmesan to give it any flavour! It is clear that the chef is not Italian and if he was, he has given up on life, because the food was awful and there was no love or passion in the dishes. Clearly the inhabitants of Skegvegas think this restaurant constitutes a fine dining experience for them, as all attendees appeared to be dressed in their Sunday best, but trust me, it really isn’t fine dining! I’ve had better meals from the field cooks in the Army whilst in conflict! I do not recommend this place if you like Italian food. There is a dominoes in the town and their pizzas are more Italian than this Italian restaurant!”

  “From the moment we walked it, the service was excellent. Lots of details, which seems not always important, but they make the difference in customer's journey. Meal amazing, great choice on the menu, including my daughter with nut allergy. Great experience over all and if we were not just visiting on holiday, we would definitely be back.”

  “We arrived without a booking as we were staying nearby and we were so pleasantly surprised. All the staff couldn’t have been more helpful and welcoming and the place had a really buzz. The food was very authentically Italian, perfectly cooked and presented and a very reasonable price. Highly recommended”
