About Taste of Thailand
Taste of Thailand is a family-run Thai restaurant at 198 Whitham Rd in Broomhill, Sheffield, open Thursday to Sunday and closed Monday through Wednesday. The menu lets diners pick a dish and choose any meat, fish, tofu or vegetables to go with it. Sukhumvit Road pairs spicy pork mince with rice, and the Massaman curry comes with tofu or with chicken and egg fried rice. Pad Thai is also made with duck. Separate vegan and gluten-free menus sit alongside the main one, which gives diners with those requirements their own list to order from. Spice markings on the menu round out the choices.

Customer Review Summary
Tom Yum soup is the dish diners name most, described as packed with flavour and a spicy kick, with one reviewer pointing to Tom kha as the creamy, non-spicy alternative. Close behind are the Sukhumvit Road, a traditional dish of spicy pork mince with rice, and the massaman curry, praised in both chicken and tofu versions. Duck pad Thai and a mixed starter with a standout satay sauce also draw mentions. Several call the food authentic, and a few compare it to meals eaten in Thailand. Reviewers praise the portions for the price, the accurate spice markings on the menu, and a kitchen that catered to a requested spice level. The vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free choices stand out, including a separate menu for a celiac guest. The family-run setting and lovely staff come up repeatedly. The one recurring complaint is pace: a reviewer reports long waits on a busy Saturday, with the same staff also handling delivery pick-ups. One group with leftovers was given tubs to take them home.

“An absolutely lovely restaurant. The food was delicious and the staff were attentive. A nice calm atmosphere 😊 great to catch up with friends. The restaurant was clean and decorated lovely. It was such a hot day 30 degrees and they had a fan to keep the restaurant cool and it worked well. They put plenty of ice in our glasses which also helped. We had 1 guest who is celiac. They have a separate menu. It had lots of choices which they were super excited about and it made choosing the meal difficult. The food tasted so authentic and just like Thai cuisine, that I had when out touring Thailand. Everyone loved their meals. We had: Mixed starter for 2 (lovely) and it comes with a few sauces. The satay sauce was the best. GF chicken satay. Duck pad Thai to share (between 3) and their was plenty. It was absolutely delicious 😋 I had Tom Yum soup which was packed with flavour and a spicy kick (by far the most delicious soup). The other 2 guests had chicken massaman curry with egg fried rice. Which they said was amazing and so packed with flavour. We had leftovers which staff gave us tubs to take home. A drink, starter, main and service charge was averaging around £35pp. Not bad at all. We all thought it was very reasonable for the quality of food. Honestly it was a fantastic restaurant and everything was super delicious. We all would highly recommend this place! We definitely will be returning and we live around 40mins away.”

“Had a fantastic meal here! Starters were good but the mains were divine! Wife had Thai Green curry, not too hot. I had Sukhumvit Road which is a traditional Thai dish with spicy pork mince and rice. We will definitely be back again because the rest of the menu looked amazing.”

“Lovely Thai food and nice workers. Never have a complaint about the tofu massaman curry, it's my go to here and I highly recommend. Lots of vegetarian options and I love that the menu is set in a way where you pick the dish you want with the option of any meat/fish/tofu/vegetables. This is a really good way for people to try different dishes that usually get restricted due to dietary preferences”
