About Barco Lounge
Barco Lounge is a restaurant in Selby, set in Unit 12 of the Market Cross Shopping Centre and open daily. A bold ship-shaped mural stands behind the bar and honours Selby's shipbuilding tradition. The space spreads across two floors, with floor-to-ceiling windows on two sides, vintage lights and floral wallpaper. The breakfast menu includes Lounge eggs and sausage and bacon sandwiches. Tapas also feature, and Tapas Tuesdays pairs 3 tapas with a choice of drink. Cocktails and coffee are served, and the extensive gluten free menu sits alongside vegetarian and vegan options. Guests order through an app at the table. Barco Lounge belongs to a multi-site lounge chain with a Heineken brewery connection, and the team raises funds for the charity IDAS.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often single out the menu's range for special diets. Gluten free, vegetarian and vegan diners all describe plenty to choose from, and one celiac diner calls the gluten free selection larger than any they have been offered elsewhere. Tapas comes close behind, including a Tapas Tuesday deal, and others mention the lounge eggs, cocktails, a soup and dessert called "shoe", and a delicious coffee. Friendly, helpful staff come up repeatedly, along with a lovely atmosphere, the decor and lighting, the upstairs, and a patio that is dog friendly. The food draws some criticism. One reviewer found a bacon sandwich with cold bacon and dry edged bread and said a neighbouring table's sausage sandwich was not much better. Another waited a long time for otherwise lovely food. One mother dining alone with her three month old describes a waitress who kept checking in and offered to reheat her meal.

“I visited barco lounge today, as a first time mum, on my own, with my 3 month old. I have been here a few times before, and always like the atmosphere. It was spacious and plenty of seating. I sat down and ordered through the app. My food and drink came quickly, and there was a lovely young waitress who kept coming over to check I was okay. Nothing was too much trouble, and she was so attentive as I was dealing with my baby- she even offered to reheat my food for me! Thank you for making my experience easier, and you made my day:)”

“The service is very good and staff are really helpful. The food arrives promptly and is hot and tasty. Cocktails are very good too. We've usually visited at around 5pm so I can't comment on the toilets after a full day but whenever I have been in them they've been really clean. The menu is extensive and there's plenty for vegetarians which is a bonus.”

“We visited and just had a coffee. Outside on the patio is great. You feel cozy. Plenty of seating and great because it’s no smoking/vaping. There is an area for smokers/vapers. It was quiet when we visited. Doggie friendly in or out. Just what we wanted.”

“Lovely food but had a long wait for it.The decor in the place is amazing and the upstairs is worth the stairs to see it.Would definitely recommend if your in the area.”

“One of my favourite places to eat. Love the staff, fun, friendly and proffessional. Lots of things going on. They support IDAS as their chosen charity and they are always fund raising in lovely ways.”

“Barco Lounge sits brightly on the corner of the Market Cross Shopping Centre in the centre of Selby. We’ve a big outdoor terrace and full height floor to ceiling windows wrapped around both sides. Our light and airy space spreads across two floors inside with vintage lights, clouds of tassel-y lampshades, rich floral wallpaper and bright colours - including a bold ship-shaped mural behind the bar, in honour of Selby’s fine shipbuilding tradition. You could say we really pushed the boat out.”
