Customer Review Summary

Reviewers are split. Fans return for the takeaway and single out the cashew nut and green beans, calling the food tasty and the staff lovely. Critics describe a korma and madras that were like soups, tough lamb, and a runny chicken tikka. One diner found the chicken biryani below expectations, with no raita and a beer swapped for another brand.

“Below-Average Biryani The three of us visited Spice Village yesterday for craving some good chicken biryani. Before ordering, we asked the staff member at the counter whether the food could be served within 15–20 minutes, and he confirmed that it could. We paid the bill upfront, but when we went to sit down, the same staff member and his manager told us that we needed to pay an additional amount because the dine-in price was different from the takeaway price. This should have been clearly explained before taking our payment, rather than informing us afterwards. We also ordered a Kingfisher beer, but were given Cobra instead. If the requested brand was unavailable, the staff should have informed us and asked for our approval before substituting it. Unfortunately, the food itself was equally disappointing. The chicken biryani was nowhere near what we expected in terms of taste and quality. There were no proper accompaniments such as raita, curd or salad, which we would normally expect with biryani. Instead, we were offered a curry-like side dish that looked unappetising and tasted awful. We were in a hurry to catch our train, so we didn't have enough time to raise these issues with the staff in person. However, I felt it was important to share our experience so that other customers know what to expect. My personal advice, especially to fellow Indians craving authentic chicken biryani, is to think twice before choosing this place. Based on our experience, the service, transparency about pricing, handling of our drink order and food quality all fell short of expectations. I hope the management takes this feedback seriously and improves both its customer service and food quality.”

“It was my first order at this takeaway , I was disappointed both the korma and madras were like soups. The flavours were really good though. The lamb was extremely tough , but the chicken was just right. The aloo was just lumps of potato and spinach no dressing or seasoning. I did order very early as was passing after work so maybe dishes served to fast.”
