About Munch Kings
Munch Kings is a fish and chips takeaway in Rochford, on Golden Cross Parade. The menu centres on cod and chips, served with mushy peas and a gherkin, and a specials fish and chips option runs alongside it. A battered sausage and a battered burger cover the non-fish side of the menu. The shop is walk-in. Friday evenings are busy, and the queue often reaches out the door. Payment by card is now accepted, and cash machines are around the corner.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often return for the fish and chips, with the cod singled out as a large piece cooked fresh and moist, and the fish described as well fried and flaky. Chips come close behind, liked for having no small bits to throw away. Battered sausage, saveloy, fishcakes, nuggets, mushy peas and a battered burger also turn up among what diners order. Friendly staff and reasonable prices come up repeatedly, and several say they visit once or twice a week or call it their favourite local chippy. Portions are described as generous. The main caveats are consistency and waiting. One reviewer on a quiet Monday describes fish that seemed frozen, dry old chips and a battered sausage that tasted close to going off, and suspects old oil, though they still note decent portions. Another says there is always a wait even after ordering ahead. A third reports queues out the door on Friday evenings, which they take as a sign of how good it is.

“Just finished eating cod, chips, mushy peas and a gherkin from this fish shop. It was really good. A lovely, large piece of cod cooked perfectly so it was fresh and moist. The chips were just as I like them with no silly little bits you throw away. Very pleasant and welcoming staff too. I absolutely recommend this ‘take away’ food service and I’ll use again. Thank you very much!”

“Soooo disappointed! Have been here a few times as very local to me and enjoyed the fish and chips previously. However, tonight was abysmal. The fish was not flaky or fresh and resembled frozen fish, chips were also clearly old, very dry and 1 of the 2 battered sausages was clearly an old batch and had a taste like it was about to go off! The colour, and dry batter gave it away and you could taste it had been cooked in old oil. I know this coming from a background of families owning takeaways/restaurants (including fish and chips!) and this practise of recooking old food in old oil is bad standards. Very disappointed especially for a Monday night when it wasn't busy at all, so I expect food to be of even higher standards compared to weekends. The only positive was the portions were of a decent size. Such a shame overall, very let down sadly”
