About Number 29 Tapas Bar
Number 29 Tapas Bar is an independent tapas bar on Frenchgate in Richmond, open daily. The room is small, at roughly 20 to 25 covers, with stools along the bar at the front and a corner snug called the naughty corner. The kitchen makes its tapas in house and serves them all day. Dishes include chorizo in tomato, albondigas and chili prawns. Charcuterie and vegetarian sharing boards sit alongside the small plates for those who want to share. The drinks list covers local cask ales, a wide range of gins and wine. Reservations can be made through Facebook.

Customer Review Summary
Diners most often praise the small plates, with chorizo, whether in tomato or alongside albondigas, named repeatedly and the meatballs singled out as a standout. Close behind are garlic mushrooms, chili prawns, Canarian potatoes and stuffed piquante peppers, described as fresh and piping hot. Real ale and the wine selection also get mentions, and service is called friendly. The room is small, and a couple of reviewers advise booking ahead. The sharpest complaints are two one-star reviews about dogs. One owner says an older staff member loudly refused to let a small dog sit on a covered chair after a waitress had agreed. Another says a group arrived with five wet dogs, diners were moved to stools, and the smell drove them to leave. One walk-in party, told the room was fully booked, was still offered two seats at the bar.

“Just been in there now it was empty it’s only the size of a house living room we were seated Looking at menu to order our food and a bottle of wine. it’s a wet miserable day the door opened a group of 11 people asked to come in for a drink no food they had 5 wet dogs with them (I like dogs I have 2 but I don’t take them to restaurants) they then asked us to move so the other people filled the full room we ended up sat at a counter at front on stools. Been a wet day the dogs smelled unpleasant very unpleasant. It was a shocking experience so we just left. I guarantee we would have spent twice as much on our meal as they did on drinks. It’s a glorified terrace house front room they should have had more sense we would never go back and I can’t get the smell of the dogs out my mind yes tapas and wet dog beautiful”

“We were up in Harmby for the bank holiday weekend and we found Number 29 Tapas bar after searching the local area for restaurants. Despite not having made a reservation we thought we'd ask on the off chance if there was a spare table. Unfortunately the restaurant was fully booked but we were very kindly offered two seats at the bar which we were more than happy to take. We ordered the garlic mushrooms, chili prawns, Canarian potatoes, chorizo sausages and aubergine and cheese melt. Every dish was fresh and full of flavour and the service was great so if you're in the area we'd highly recommend Number 29 Tapas Bar (5*).”

“What a great place to visit. A cheeky pint on Friday night prior to seeing a play at The Georgian Theatre. On the basis of the beer, the friendly atmosphere and the food we booked a table on Saturday evening. Cracking good - standout dish was the meatballs - two of us shared 4 dishes, plus bread. Couple of excellent pints and 2 glasses of wine - cost £62 plus tip. Need to come back to Richmond…next time I want the haggis! Great weekend at a campsite at Hudswell, walks along the river, beers at The George & Dragon, and the Station Tap. Big Thanks to the hardworking girls at Bar 29 and the top food.”
