Customer Review Summary

Lamb is the dish reviewers return to most, from a lamb bhuna that was not oily and came with a generous portion of meat, to butter lamb on a first takeaway order and lamb that was fall off the fork delicious. Chicken 65 comes close behind. One reviewer calls it complex in flavour and a new go-to dish, and another ordered it alongside masala and a tandoori mix grill. Also singled out are onion bhajis that were the opposite of soft and greasy, chilli paneer, gobi manchurian with its balance of spice and tang, chicken satay, and roast duck with crisp pakchoi. Portions are described as generous and brilliant, and the menu as varied and unique. Staff come across as friendly and accommodating, with several first-time diners saying they felt at home and plan to return. One family birthday ended with staff decorating the table without the guests knowing.

“Absolutely stunning food! Brilliant service and the decor in the restaurant was lovely, when we popped in to pick up our takeaway. I had a chicken curry and the chicken just fell apart. The portion sizes are brilliant too. Couldn’t recommend enough! :)”

“HALAL MEAT! I recently called to book a table and asked whether their meat was halal. I was told very clearly that it is, including the chicken, which is 100% halal. It is completely unacceptable that this is not mentioned anywhere on their website or menus. It gives the impression that this information is being withheld, and customers are not being properly informed about what they are being served. I do not think the vast majority of residents in the area would want to eat halal meat, if this was made clear. Halal meat is unethical and should not be served here. For that reason, I will not be returning, and I am sharing this so others are aware and can make their own informed decision.”

“This is the first time I've eaten food from the Curry Lounge, I will certainly be using them again. I collected and therefore got a discount for doing so as my order was over £20. My order supplied dinner for two adults for just over £30, which I thought was very reasonable. I had a lamb bhuna and a few other bits. It was delicious, it was not oily, the meat portion was generous and it was not spicy for the sake of it. For once I ate the sauce first and totally emptied my plate. The staff were polite and friendly and from what I saw, the restaurant is clean and tidy. I like curry, curry does not always like me sadly...this one does seem to like me! Hussah!”

“I recently ordered from The Curry Lounge and was blown away by the quality and variety on the menu. It’s not often you find a place that masters such a diverse range of flavors so perfectly. What we ordered: • Gobi Manchurian: Absolutely spot on. The perfect balance of spice and tang—easily some of the best I've had. • Chicken Satay: Tender, flavorful, and a great starter. • Roast Duck with Pakchoi: The duck was cooked beautifully and the pakchoi was fresh and crisp. A really high-quality dish. • Curry Lounge Rice: The perfect accompaniment to tie the whole meal together. The portion sizes were generous, and the total was incredibly reasonable for the quality of food provided. If you’re in Ashington, this is a must-try.”
